Yeah, I started reading the story and decided to just stick with the headline.

Hope they find that dude by Christmas and give him the present he deserves.

One part Jameson, one part water, slice of lemon, half a dozen cloves, spoon of brown sugar, heat on the stove.

Christmas vacation officially begun.

What do you mean "but"? Are you arguing with someone here?

The only thing that someone could say that you could respond with this sentence is, "Hey 50, I heard you don't twist that la la la la."

...But nobody would ever say that.

To give you an example how F'd partisanship is these days, it has trumped professional courtesy.

I got my first job when a guy who had worked for Clinton introduced me to a guy who had worked for Sen. Cloverdell (R-GA).

The Coverdell guy introduced me to a woman who worked for Rep. John Lewis (D-GA) who......

flash forward some years, and I've established myself as someone who can successful navigate the sharks in both parties, and who sends business and gets business from people of both parties who can't take the business for a variety of reasons. It's what all businesses are predicated upon - referrals.

So, a young lady I know was up for a job with the Republican Convention and asked me for a recommendation. She's smart, she's capable, and she's stuck in a shite job in our current administration here.

I wrote her a recc, and I give damn good recc. People who've asked me for recommendations now work for major non-profits, as development directors of universities, and campaign operatives for Barry and for Romney.

She was turned down because "the best recommendation she had was from a Democrat" is the verbatim response she got from a friend who knows the guy doing the hiring.

Maybe it's a convenient excuse to hire someone who will take it in the seat, but it struck me as short sighted and stupid. He can LOOK AT THE GAME TAPE and see that I'm a fucking professional and not some party operative -- and even if I was, game recognize game where I come from.

File Under: people to completely and utterly fuck when I get the chance.

It pisses me off either way and I didn't want to vent in public via fail book, but I needed to complain.

Thanks for always being there, TOOKS!

I SERIOUSLY hope this makes the cut for the next episode of Vesco Island!

Why would a Republican want to risk hiring someone who might have Democratic leanings which could potentially undermine motivation and not produce the highest level of performance possible? Wouldn't it be safer for them to hire a similar candidate (assuming they are getting flooded with applicants) that is a documented right winger?

Edit: Doesn't your idea that the hiring selection shouldn't be politically motivated just present the underlying problem with politics? The problem is that politics is motivated by paying positions/ client and therefore steered by those with more money. Maybe we'd have a better situation if everyone involved wasn't looking out for number one and started doing what they felt was right. This would definitely polarize the sides, but at least we would know where people stood.

Not to be difficult, and not that I don't generally love being difficult. But I can actually see how in some ways this is not a bad thing. Is it better to have hired guns wandering around shilling for the highest bidder with no regard to ideology or does it make sense for campaigns to actually be driven by people with at least some ideological skin in the game?

I can't say I don't at least somewhat respect a candidate for wanting to hire people who believe in his message over the biggest gun you can afford who doesn't give a fuck about anything.
