I like those first couple Goldfinger records more than I probably should.

Listening to it now, it's amazing how "emotive", in the sense of late 90s/early noughts emo-punk, it is. & it was released in early '98, recorded the year prior -- the Stereo owe Goldfinger money.

That means, Gin Blossoms, from Arizona, to start the week. Followed by Goldfinger, emotional ska-punk. Now, Jimmy Eat World, emo-punk, from Arizona.

Alert Kevin Bacon!

This is a fun record, lots of retro rock/punk/garageness with a spry attitude and decently catchy hooks.

Hüsker Dü: Zen Arcade

I generally tend toward the camp that considers New Day Rising the best Hüsker Dü album, and more-often prefer it's brevity and hooky songs over the chaos and sprawl of Zen Arcade. That said, Zen Arcade is just a monster of an album that I come back to over and over through the years. It ranges from a 2 minute acoustic pop song with biting lyrics in Never Talkin' to You Again to sidelong squalls of guitar feedback to classic punk tunes like Pink Turns to Blue to a crazed psychedelic version of Hare Krishna. Massive and worth the time. I should also mention that if any album in my collection deserves to come with the caveat that it sounds best and is best enjoyed blasting at full volume, it's this one. Not only is it far better to get lost in the feedback at full blast, but the whole thing really sounds more balanced as the bass gets more pronounced once you basically max out the trashy trebley high end. Seriously, crank this fucker for maximum impact.

yo is there a reason that JD Mcpherson record is getting a lot of press lately? It's like two years old. Did it get re-released by a major or osmething?
