So, riffing off the posts in the January Random thread, where should I start with Shugo?
I want more.

I still haven't moved beyond his most recent album In Focus?, but I like it a lot.

Planning to get Exit and Night Piece next.

exit was my entry point.

i'm not as wild about the new one. i like it, but it hasn't sunk in like exit did. i still give it a spin at work (in the background) here and there to see what pops. port entropy is also not bad.

don't overlook L.S.T. from '05 - my #4 per shmoo poll. it runs on the strength of song 2 'mushina' but there really isn't a single dud on the record. doesn't stray much from his brand of soft, breezy acoustic pop with the gentle & pretty arrangements you've probably already heard, just a strong precursor for things to come. and more quiet than upbeat. typically light on percussion, LST is where he starts to incorporate the bells & whistles into his sound - literally, not metaphorically - something along w his plucky guitar work that kind of trademarks his music. equally cool, he employs a host of strings on LST - banjo, cello, shamisen & quiet electric strumming (think dustin wong). theremin & soft synths added for good measure. quality stuff for sure.
