I've got a pair of 4.5 inch bookshelf rear speakers that I was stands for. Mounts are out of the question at present. Any recommendations? It seems like no stores carry these in a put-together form, and I want stable but not ugly.

Tentoze is the guy for this. But he's rare here these days.

I should add that I'm looking for them fairly cheap, like under $200. Long term plan is probably to mount but the hell I'm going through my basement wall until I have a fullscale remodeling project on my hands.

I want something nice enough to hold me over for a few years without being an eyesore.

Have you used any of those above, or are you just going by google results? It's really hard to get a feel for how sturdy something is based on online info.

As for making them, it's definitely intriguing--I've been more into making my own stuff lately--but I'm not sure wood offers the same wire management that a purchased item does. Ideally it would be metal and have swivels, but I may be dreaming...

I know people who have the on stage ones. They're popular in studios because they're cheap and get the job done.
