Well, that was fucking incredible. The feeling I'm left with is that if Nick Cave was in town every night at Massey Hall, I would have to go every single night just to try to parse whatever the hell that was. So intensely punk rock, leaden with substance, captivating delivery. The inner-city school choir was a nice added touch – Stu, did they perform with one in Austin, too?

I wasn't previously obsessed with Nick Cave; I am now.

thanks for this discussion gents. i have tickets for his sold out show at the Ogden in Denver next week. sandwiched between Phosphorescent and Sigur Rós shows these next two Saturdays and coupled with my in-laws arriving for a visit the day of the Nick Cave show, i was beginning to strongly consider selling.

I know this is borderline unforgivable but I have never listened to anything from Nick Cave aside from a handful of The Birthday Party albums, which I really like, just tend to forget about honestly. What's a good starting point for his stuff post-Birthday Party?

i found my entry point with "the boatman's call", on the gentler side. latest record is also a great example of that end of the spectrum.

Have been listening to the new one based on a happy confluence of this thread and an interview I recently read with Warren Ellis about the development of his signature tenor guitar.

I'm liking it.

i went to monday's show and it was really great. i was surprised at how heavy the new tracks, especially "jubilee street", sounded live.
