Finally...

So my obsession with the band Slow and all its subsequent fall-out has been long documented here. One splinter band was Jungle, formed by bassist Tom Hamm. In the late '90s they seemed to be on the verge of some form of success when their lead singer, Mark Kleiner, suddenly quit to (in his words) devote himself to the church. Whatever he meant by that was obscured by the fact he reappeared within the year as the Mark Kleiner Power Trio, which put out the pretty swell power pop album (Love To Night). But his departure totally blew up Jungle, which seemed to be the end of the story.

CUT TO:

Quote:
"Pacific Oblivion" is the great lost album of Vancouver proto-Indie rock band JUNGLE. Meant to be the group's debut full-length release, the project was shelved in 1998. Shortly thereafter, front man Mark Kleiner quit music to become a preacher. The master tapes of "Pacific Oblivion" were discovered in 2011, which led to the reformation of JUNGLE.

RIYL: power pop, 70s AM hooks, fun (without the period), the spiritual corruption of would-be preachers

Have a listen:

It's available on i-Tunes, CD Baby, and Amazon.

Used to put this song on pretty much every mix, circa '97:

You know damn well how I feel about that other Slow-related band that you turned me on to. I will definitely be checking this one out.
Thanks, Rads!

EDIT:
Listening now via that Soundcloud link. Not killing me so far, but pretty good.
It reminds me a bit of Lloyd Cole's early 90s output. So, for several of you—you might dig it a lot.
