I should probably get around to making a list.

I just picked up that Diarrhea Planet after seeing it on your list and what I'd heard about it before. Good stuff.

I forgot about that Virgins album, but really liked about half of it. Ditto Diarrhea Planet.

Gave Futurebirds a listen after seeing it as your #1 on FB, and didn't mind it at all. Not fully my kinda thing, but it certainly hits a mood.

Still have not got around to that Dr. Dog album. Will have to rectify that soon.

Good list. 7 overlaps plus Parquet Courts that made my top 5 last year (Was this re-released?).

Cool I think I'm gonna jump on this Diarrhea Planet bandwagon, too.

Yes. I saw practically no mention mention of it in 2012, even going back and searching for stuff about it.

Excellent list, Bloor! Four overlaps, and another 3-4 I enjoyed, but didn't quite make my list.

I think it was released in December of 2012, so pretty much nobody heard it until 2013. I'd call it an either/or.

I've seen things listing it as being originally released as early as August 2012, but then I think it was a limited vinyl release or something. I don't care. I'm counting it as 2013.

Spotify (not the most trusted resource) calls it 2012 but calls the rerelease with the Tally All The Things That You Broke EP 2013.

Who knows? For me its 2013.

Vampire Weekend was ok but a little bit of a let down. Seen so much good press, maybe I was expecting too much. Not bad, rarely annoying, mostly ok but slower and quieter than I wanted.

Not that I think its something that would be in your wheelhouse anyways, but it is an album that takes more than a couple of listens to get.

I would also recommend the Futurebirds if for no other reason than their beautiful use of a pedal steel in a rock band, but I'm not sure its something you'd dig either. They are from Athens so there's that.

It was on their own label Dull Tools, but yeah just vinyl or a download of it.

plenty to like on there for me YB, the Virgins held well for me all year

Neko I thought would be more of the same but her lyrics and phrasing woo me every time,
I spent a long time away from her catalog so I lost some of that familiarity I suppose

Phosphorescent is great and still listen to the old Loog rec album as well
Vampire Weekend I am still soaking in

Sturgill sounds up my alley thanks to this board[biilyg?] crazy voice of throwbacks he's got

Tim Easton has grown on me over the years and really hits me in a good spot these days

I need to listen to that Futurebirds album more, and not just on Spotify. I love them live and their other recorded stuff.

It sounds real good on that purple vinyl.

Diarrhea Planet? Seriously?

No. I've not heard them but no.

I pre-ordered this for the GF. Probably my least-favorite DD album...that I've heard (haven't ventured back further than We All Belong). That's considering I thought the last one (Be the Void) was a clunker as well.

I'm only now getting around to checking out other EOY best-of's. Looks like these could be in my wheelhouse.

01. Futurebirds - Baba Yaga
06. Sturgill Simpson - High Top Mountain
12. Deer Tick - Negativity
16. Parquet Courts - Light Up Gold

I think I like their two most recent albums best, but I'm far from a longtime fan.
