Holy shit. I did not see that one coming.
(Of course, I didn't know about his substance abuse problems.)
A great, great actor.
Rest in peace.

Sucks on this.

The simple fact that the same guy was in Capote, Big Lebowski, and Happiness should say enough. Great range and a lot of varied roles.

Anyone watch A Late Quartet on netflix? I saw it over christmas break, starring him as well as Christopher Walken and Catherine Keener?

I somehow missed this when it was in theaters. I enjoyed it quite a bit.

I'll check it out.

My favorite, lesser-known film from PSH is the Savages. Another great performance from him as well as Laura Linney.

I don't typically get this way, but I'm so upset over this. I've loved him since many middle school viewings of Twister. My adoration grew immensely from there. RIP, Philip.

I know. Shit is incredibly, deeply sad if you allow yourself the time to think about it. I've been avoiding it.

I love this scene so much. First thing I thought of once I heard the news. Did not want to believe it was true. He really was such a great actor and in so many of my favorite movies.

I need to rewatch Synecdoche, New York stat.

Hadn't heard of this until I searched Netflix last night to see which of his films were streaming. Will plan to watch soon.

YES. Mary & Max. It's great. I want Adam Elliot to make more movies.

I had forgotten that PSH was the voice of Max. I remember being surprised when I saw the credits, though.

So amazingly versatile and talented.

I made it around 5 mins in with my daughter before turning it off, but I plan on finishing it myself.

Yeah, don't know how old your daughter is, but it's not really for kids. Maybe kids over 10 or so. If they're really patient.

My wife and I really enjoyed it. But there were times I wasn't sure if I could make through the whole thing. It's pretty slow and can seem pretty bleak.

It's one of my son's favorite movies, ever. He's 14 now and first saw it a year or so ago.

Obligatory plug for 25th Hour...with Norton and Barry Pepper (and others) he is understated, but it's in the running for the best movie of the 00s.

Anyone ever see "Love Liza"?

Depressing movie that isn't really all that noteworthy except for Hoffman playing a gas huffing widower who can't open his wife's suicide letter.

A laugh riot.

Man, forgot about that one. I seem to remember it being really good but it's been a long time.
