Friend of mine wrote this article about the band and their new (old) release.
I never think of them in this way. I just think of their one, very atmospheric, Lanois-like hit, "Shelter."
But I'm listening to this on Spotify right now and digging it with a big shovel.

An interesting read for those of you who might be interested.

A record store down the street from me does a monthly podcast in which they have a guest artist come in and they play some songs live and play songs from records that they dig and banter a bit about music. This month's guest was Benmont Tench who is best known for being the keyboard player in the Heartbreakers but he apparently also played for awhile with Lone Justice. There was a guy standing right next to me who Benmont kept talking to. I didn't recognize him but it turned out to be Marvin Etzioni, the bassist from Lone Justice.

Never was much of a fan of their music mainly because I didn't really like the singer's voice much but it seemed like they opened up for a helluva lot of bands I liked so I saw them a lot back in the day.

This actually helps paint a better picture of this band for me. I checked out their first album years ago after reading some positive reviews and was underwhelmed. Had a sheen on it like much of Lyle Lovett's mid-80's work.

Sounds like they were much more raw before getting signed with Geffen and Jimmy Iovine.

Probably could've benefited from going the more stripped down route but, then again, they probably never play Saturday Night Live without all the production.

one song streaming. good takes, questionable mix, especially hot kick drum on the intro, but once it kicks in, pretty rad.
