one of my all time favorite songs from the 80s

what are some other songs like this*?

*the half-my-friends-are-dead-or-have-STDs, hazy, Less Than Zero, dark side of 1980s LA vibe

Love that Posh Boy Hits VOl. 1 that featured that Suicide Child track. Not sure I know much else like it, maybe something like Suicide's Johnny Teardrop.

Just wanna say love on this Jet Black Berries, TSOL (I always liked that album even though most of the original members were gone by that time), and especially that Gun Club album, absolute classic shit there.

Definitely a Billy Idol quality to the guy's voice. And the album came out at the height of Idol's MTV reign, so that always grated on me a little.

I mean, try to listen to this without envisioning Idol's sneer and fist pump along with it:

Billy should've covered it

Enigma Variations, Vol. 1 - still got it on vinyl.

Art Bergmann is well worth digging into, although it's fairly hard to find these days. See also: Young Canadians, K-Tels, Poisoned, Los Popularos

I can up some stuff, definitely that "Lost Art" comp of Poisoned demos from the mid 80s. I'll put the links in here.

That Enigma Variations is a great comp. The version of Green on Red's Sixteen Ways on there kicks the shit out of the version on Gas Food Lodging. Pretty sure I still have a digital copy of that whole thing if anyone wants that one uploaded. Lots of good stuff there.

i never had the comp, but i had the enigma print catalog that had that comp in it. i remember my mom showing concern, because of John Trubee's song called "Blind Man's Penis" and i was 11.
