I've said it vefore and I will say it again. Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash are modern day prophets. Everyone else is channeling what they ARE. It might come to some peopl naturally, but God gave it to those dudes.

I can say I'm a fucking agnostic all the live long day, but when you listen to stuff like this, you have to wonder what fucking god touched these guys. I need some of that stuff.

music is my proof that something is out there. guys like this harness it. Luckenbach owns!

I bet there's rich folk eatin' in a fancy dining car.
They're prob'ly drinkin' coffee and smokin' big cigars,
But I know I had it comin', I know I can't be free,
But those people keep a movin', and that's what tortures me.

Written by Kris, by immortalized by JC.

Well I woke up Sunday morning,
With no way to hold my head that didn't hurt.
And the beer I had for breakfast wasn't bad,
So I had one more for dessert.
Then I fumbled through my closet for my clothes,
And found my cleanest dirty shirt.
An' I shaved my face and combed my hair,
An' stumbled down the stairs to meet the day.

I'd smoked my brain the night before,
On cigarettes and songs I'd been pickin'.
But I lit my first and watched a small kid,
Cussin' at a can that he was kicking.
Then I crossed the empty street,
'n caught the Sunday smell of someone fryin' chicken.
And it took me back to somethin',
That I'd lost somehow, somewhere along the way.

On the Sunday morning sidewalk,
Wishing, Lord, that I was stoned.
'Cos there's something in a Sunday,
Makes a body feel alone.
And there's nothin' short of dyin',
Half as lonesome as the sound,
On the sleepin' city sidewalks:
Sunday mornin' comin' down.

In the park I saw a daddy,
With a laughin' little girl who he was swingin'.
And I stopped beside a Sunday school,
And listened to the song they were singin'.
Then I headed back for home,
And somewhere far away a lonely bell was ringin'.
And it echoed through the canyons,
Like the disappearing dreams of yesterday.

On the Sunday morning sidewalk,
Wishing, Lord, that I was stoned.
'Cos there's something in a Sunday,
Makes a body feel alone.
And there's nothin' short of dyin',
Half as lonesome as the sound,
On the sleepin' city sidewalks:
Sunday mornin' comin' down.

Dumpjack, there's a Handsoem Family version of that song wher ewhen he says "Teh lonesome bells are ringing" the bells chime louder...and it kills me.

God, the family, the fryin chicken, the curch, the singin..knowing you are a derelict, but also knowing you'd do it again.

I just scored tickets to the Late Late Show -- gonna see Kasabian. Cool! Interestingly enough, I've never gone to a TV taping. I guess it's not "very LA".

Yeah mine was so hot too, read for an hour or so and was asleep by 11ish so I could be woken up at 7 by my son this morning. woo hoo! Now I get to go to work for a couple hours, come home and supervise a playdate with son and a 2nd grade girl that he has a crush on.

(I'm reading The Six Wives of Henry VIII right now, fascinating stuff)

watched some Spanglish via Netflix, drank a pbr, went to bed. Passed up an opportunity to hang with best friend because we're broke.

This too shall pass.
