Do you have much experience with these? Have you ever programmed any? I turns out I have to to generate all the click tricks for our drummer. I just started working on them last night in CuBase SX... I have questions....

I've only worked briefly with Cubase, I've got Sonar, but they have similar layouts.

I'm willing to bet money that the metronome feature has a tap tempo option if you don't know what speed the click should be.

Also, is it JUST a click for his headphones, or is there an electronic element to the music that he has to sync up with?

If it's just a click, I'd step input whatever sounds you want to use.

If it's a track that he's got to play along to, it's easiest to program an identifiable sound for a click that isn't as obnoxious as say, a cowbell. If you don't have anything in the track that keeps a steady tempo that could be used as a click, i'd get a Dr. Beat metronome set to each song's tempo, have him listen to it, or watch the silent mode flashing light, and then have him trigger the actual track, so he's got a ballpark of the tempo before the track starts. I'd also recommend running any tracks you have off of CD instead of MP3, or Cubase.

Hope that helps, hit me back.

i'm gonna look into that tap tempo option tonight.

It is just a click for his headphones, no synching of electronics required.

Cubase generates an automatic click track, and so far, i've just basically set the tempo for each song and output the click track. Do you think I need to get any more complex with it? I've never done this before, and our drummer has never played with a click before.... It appears that every song I have worked on so far is 4/4....
