...a film made from A Confederacy Of Dunces, who would be your pick to play Ignatious J. Rilley?

I pick: John C. Riley (is that his name or am I gettin screwed up?)

I think Bellzebub came up with this first: Ricky from Better Off Dead. I couldn't find a good picture, but this is who I thought of the whole time I read this book.

It's John C. Reilly

Seems like a good choice, but I've never seen him carrying a film by himself. At most he was a duel lead in Sydney/Hard Eight with Philip Baker Hall and an almost-lead in Boogie Nights. I haven't seen Criminal, maybe that wiould fill in the answer.

Criminal was OK - it seemed like the screenplay was flawed, above all else...

The characters weren't fleshed out enough...

But JCR was pretty good in it...

Criminal stunk

Bad script. Technical mistakes. Bad acting. John C Reilly can't voice act for shit. If I were casting I'd think twice about using him if he might have to redo dialouge.

For Ignatius, I would enlist Oliver Platt.

It's one of those projects they've been trying to do FOREVER...I think they're actually finally making one now, though.

I'll catch the double bill of that and Gilliam's Don Quixote.
