I went to go see Lucinda Williams last night at the Atl. Botanical Gardens, and was treated to a wonderfully intimate evening. She played a pretty good mix of older tunes as well as a good many new songs writtten for an upcoming release in the spring.
I had never seen Lou before but am pretty familiar with her catalog and have to say that she and the band were great. One of the better shows I've seen in a while.
I highly recommend Atliens checking out a show at the B.G.'s, very laid back date-night type place. I was kicking myself for not making it to some of the previous shows they have had there Cowboy Junkies, Aimee Mann).

From what a dj guy I know up here tells me, she can be REAL spotty of late, with the alcohol and all. And the singles from that last album ... her voice is just super-dooper sloppy, like there's not really any doubt she was trashed while recording. Apparently she showed up to play live for this guy's station, and was sauced up real good.

She did well? Man that makes me happy. I saw her w/ Busty at Music Midtown a few years back, and was very impressed.

Her voice and playing was RIGHT ON. She did have a book with the words in case she forgot em. Towards the end of the night one of the roadies had to come out between songs and turn the pages for her.

Bless her heart. It's been a long, bumpy ride.

It's not like her husband is any better (Mark Olsen from The Jayhawks).

As far as I've ever been able to tell, Lucinda isn't married to anyone. She's coming to Vegas soon, and I think I'll try to catch that show, in hopes of it being one of her "on" nights.

That was actually me, genius.

Hey Harry M., I thought that you were going to Kings of Leon last night. Change of plans?

Be sure to peep me of any other shows at the Bot. Gardens. I could kill two birds with a night like that.

Yeah I got a case of concert confusion. Kings of Leon is next Thursday. I did see our buddy Garson and his girl at the show killing two birds.

Pretty sure she's single. I saw her last year at the Newport Folk Festival, and she was awesome.

If any of you ATLiens are checking out the Atlantis Music Festival, check out my roommate's two man outfit, Bifunkal.

Any of you ATLiens checking out some music festival in your town this weekend? My roommate's two man outfit, Bifunkal is playing...

ehhh, one-a you tall motherfuckers. Why can't I have any short friends?

But then again, riding busty's shoulders for the Black Crowes was pretty awesome.
