They indeed put on a great show...but, the Staples Center? Yeesh, that place is huge! And, The Bravery? Certainly they could've picked someone much better.

Yeah, could Depeche Mode even outsell a regular sized club these days?

my sentiments exactly......

but I guess they probably still got all the pretty Road Cases from the Music For The Masses days so this may be the "Lets Masturbate Our Egos One More Time" tour....

Depeche Mode are hugely popular. I went to see them on their last major tour -- place was fuckin' packed. And we're talkin' ALL ages in attendance.

I guess I just find that amazing. Pardon my ignorance.

I mean, are youngsters buying old albums and shit?

WTF has Depeche Mode even done of note since Violator????

The album also marks the first time Gahan has shared songwriting credits with Gore in the band's 25-year history.

Huh? I thought Gore wrote all their shit?

It doesn't matter, they sell out based on their existing catalog, and their reputation as a live band.

We also want to see Dave fall off the wagon again. That shit was some funny...

He did (most of it, anyway), this is the first time they collaborated.

Hilarious.

Listen, I kow Homechicken Davey G was a fucking drunk/addict but did he ever have a public, onstage, fuckup that is available on video?

I'd love to see some footage of Gore doing one of his solo tracks, all serious and shit, while Dave is falling off the stage, PISSY and Andy is laughing b/c he knows that his keys have NEVER been plugged in.

i saw them at allstate arena last night and it was amazing. they've done the same set list every night of the tour, so i pretty much knew what was coming and that took a little from the spontaneity, but it was really fun.

dave gahan is such a great frontman. i could not take my eyes off him the entire night. he was in absolute control. and then when he left the stage and martin sang, i lost interest because he did really mediocre songs. like, i learned during "damaged people" that depaul went to the final four in 1943 and 1979 from the banners at the top of the arena. he just couldn't hold my interest.

they played a pretty good mix from their career. there were six or seven songs from the new album, three from violator, and one or two from the others. they played about two hours, including two planned encores. i think the best song all night was "i feel you", but "just can't get enough" went over really well too.

anyway, excellent show. and the best part might be that i was comped. i probably wouldn't be raving like this if i'd paid the $75.

I was at the show in San Antonio. It was the SBC Center and it was packed to the max. And there was a healthy mix of folks in their late teens through late 40s. Depeche have definitely passed the generational crossover test.

Oh, and it rocked. It was much better than the Exciter tour.

They played "Just Can't Get Enough" - which I was never crazy about. As far as I'm concerned, they could have let Vince Clark take that song with him when he went to form Yazoo and then Erasure.....

I was just watching my DVD from Foetus' Love, and there's an ad for "Venture Bros.". Excerpt:

Honeybun: Sweetie, isn't that the guy from Depeche Mode?
Monarch: Oh. No way. Where?
(looks)
Holy crap, he's with a girl.
Honeybun: Oh yeah! That guy is totally straight. I saw a whole thing about him on the VH1.
Monarch: But he's the guy from Depeche Mode. It's impossible.
Honeybun: Straight
Monarch: C'mon, he's in Depeche Mode.

I love dM to death, but I still found this amusing.

And Pittsburgh as well, though they may have played here earlier in the year, if I recall. Then again, that might have been Cleveland...one of my friends was bragging about going to a DM show...I just can't remember where...

The opening groups are awful. They couldn't have found better matches? I mean, The Bravery are like a poor man's Killers...and The Killers are nothing to write home about.
