Has anyone seen this movie, or heard the soundtrack? It's available on DVD, and i'm pretty sure it never was in theatres.. but I found out about it because the soundtrack is comprised of Tom Waits covers by various artists, including Alex Chilton, Lydia Lunch, etc.
I watched the music video for the cover of "Old Shoes" which contained clips of the movie, but I couldn't really tell much about it.
Oh well, even if the movie is complete shit I will probably end up buying the soundtrack.[/i]

I don't know who or what [the] caseworker is, but you can get (what looks like) the best of that soundtrack on the Step Right Up tribute to Tom Waits (Manifesto Records, 1995). The trib tracklist is:

1. Drugstore "Old Shoes"
2. Tindersticks "Mockin' bird"
3. Pete Shelley "Better Off Without A Wife"
4. The Wedding Present "Red Shoes By The Drugstore"
5. Violent Femmes "Step Right Up"
6. Alex Chilton "Downtown"
7. Archers of Loaf "Big Joe And Phantom 309"
8. These Immortal Souls "You Can't Unring A Bell"
9. Jeffrey Lee Pierce "Pasties And A G-String"
10. Magnapop "Christmas Card From A Hooker In Los Angeles"
11. Dave Alvin "Ol' 55"
12. Pale Saints "Jersey Girl"
13. Tim Buckley "Martha"
14. Frente! "Ruby"
15. 10,000 Maniacs "I Hope That I Don't Fall In Love With You"

Yeah, that one looks a whole lot better than the one for the movie.

Whatever happened to Drugstore? I'm confused, too, how is Tim Buckley on a Tom Waits tribute album?

Closing Time came out in '73. Buckley didn't die until the summer of '75.
