I've just finished listening to this and I think this is truly excellent stuff. It actually might be one of my favourite Neil Young albums, (but that might be a little premature). I guess everybody already knows that Praire Wind is more in vein with Harvest, After the Gold Rush and Harvest Moon. This is true. I've never heard these songs before, but they're all immediately familiar and comfortable (maybe too familiar sometimes as on 'This Old Guitar' where he cribs a bit from of 'Harvest Moon'). None of that matters though, because I don't know anyone else who can still make music this good after being around for, what, 40 years.

Standouts are Praire Wind, This Old Guitar and Here for You. He Was The King (about Elvis) is fun as well.

PM me for a listen.

I think it's more in line with "Comes a Time", female backing vocals, orchestration, etc., although he does play songs from "Harvest Moon" and "Harvest" in the movie. I had the opportunity to hear and see it played live at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville a few weeks back (it was filmed by Jonathan Demme for a concert film). It's one of his best albums in years. The fact the he almost died and his father (with whom he was very close) died a few months ago brought out a ton of nostalgia and what seemed to be some emotional creativity.

What's the release date for this?

I'll have it up for the DC++ crowd in a minute.

That's the same day as Ike Reilly. Kickass.
