I listened to this two nights ago but I didn't really think much of it. I might give it one or two more listens but I don't know.

What do you think of it?

Splates.. that Manic Street Preachers album art is wonderful. Have you ever seen the womans other work? I mean, if you're interested in art at all, you should check her out. Her name is Jenny Saville and she does these large scale disgusting paintings of obese figures.

she is one of my contemporary art heroes and while i agree that some paintings are "hard to take" i would never call them disgusting. i saw one in person and it was simply beautiful. her handling of paint is amazing and i would love to have a lengthy conversation about her but i'm running 12 year old boys out to the movies right now.

they look totally out of place on that cd cover. ridiculous in fact.

I didn't mean it in a "oh jesus christ that's awful" sort of way. The figures are obviously not attractive. The woman is a wonderful painter, there is no doubt about it. Everytime I look at her paintings I feel like I can reach into them and mold the lard on the persons body. I have to go get my pie out of the oven, now.

Oh, ayah, if you'd ever like to talk about art or anything and you're a nerd like me and get on AIM, i'm AoxomoxoA138.
I love talking about art, but I usually don't have many people to talk about it with.

I know it's ambient, but it didn't really stick with me or hold my attention either like good ambient music should. I've only given it two listens though so maybe it'll get better.

Holy Bible is one of my favourite albums, and the album art is one of my favourites. It's good standalone, and it fits with the 'disgust with the world' lyrics and music contained within. I haven't seen any of her other work before, but my friend in art school recommended me her work before too. Thanks, I'll see if I can find some of her stuff.

i knew you didn't mean really disgusting but i had to clarify it because so many people misread her work. while she has used the body of a post-surgical transexual and has incorporated parts of the images from plastic surgery texts and photos, in most of the paintings she used her own face. she exagerated her body but used her face or her sister's face in those paintings. the REAL kick in thenass is that all of those large body paintings were from her thesis show--or whatever they call it a t university in england--and charles saatchi bought every single one of them.

i'm dying to know what she's doing now. i can't find a whole lot of current info on her. they don't translate to the cd (for me) because in reality they are actually 9, 12 or 15 feet high. simply amazing.

we saw lord of war. it was okay for a 12 year old movie outing. how'd the pie turn out?

The pie was delicious, thank you for asking. I want to see the Corpse Bride, however I have no money.
Luckily I start work tomorrow for the first time in a month!

So do you have this on mp3? I gather that it's a vinyl only release, and I was thinking about ordering it. It's pretty hard to find, though.
