So I've read about these movies and they sound interesting to me. Have any of you seen them, and if so, what did you think? I think Thumbsucker was talked about a previous thread, but I didn't remember seeing the others.

I am very much looking forward to seeing this one in the theater.

Also looking forward to the new Wallace and Gromit, but I don't know when that one comes out.

Also need to see Mirror Mask, being the whore for all things David McKean that I am.

The Squid and The Whale comes out soon too. I can't wait to see this one.

Elizabethtown looks great.

Also want to see most of what was mentioned above.

Saw the new trailer (theatrical mind you, not internet) for HP movie when we saw Corpse Bride, and it was absolutely awesome. Now I really can't wait for this to come out.

i saw thumbsucker last night and thought it was just okay. the problem with films by former music video directors is that they always seem to come off more about scenes than a whole film (if that makes sense). so yeah, i guess it was alright.

um... it was okay, but it didn't sound like a lot. i think i heard the same 2-3 songs (or clips of them) over and over.

yeah, that Firefly show. I know a bunch of people that swear this was one of the best shows ever and they're all superpissed that it didn't last. they're all buffy fans too, so whatever that says.

actual conversation regarding this show:
"It's like they're cowboys...in space!"
"Isn't like every story set in space like that?"
"well, yeah. but this one was funny, too!"
"oh."

it's a TV show that the creator of "Buffy" and like 8 other TV shows/erstwhile X-Men writer (and director of the new one, I think) and uber-dork Joss Whedon came up with abouyt space smugglers or something. I don't know, I never really saw it.

Joss Whedon is bril. He has a sense of humour, and they'll be doing something funny, when all of a sudden...WHAM!!!...someone dies or something...he's the master of toying with your emotions, you'll be all suspended animation...erm...suspenseful one moment, and laughing the next, possibly crying later...

So yeah, it's action/comedy/drama/scifi/western...

I highly recommend the series. It only lasted one season. I kind of get the impression there will be enough background for people who haven't seen the series to understand the movie, yet enough "story" that people who have seen the series to still have a reason to want to go and see it in the theater.

tualatin high school. tualatin, oregon. in the trailer, there's a scene where it's a side view and he walks past some glass doors in the school hallway, and there's like 2 lockers you can see in the backgroun on the right of the screen. mine is next to a white pillar.

Saw Serenity today in the theatre.....it is every bit the movie that the Star Wars movies should have been....I'd highly recommend the series as well, but it isn't COMPLETELY necessary to watch it as they give a pretty good background to the storyline in the first few minutes of the movie.....I get the feeling that this will be a big word of mouth hit that will also end up selling a ton of DVDs.....

Yeah, sorry -- that last paragraph should have been split in two. One recommending the series, and the other being my impression about how the movie will map to people who have and have not seen the series. If I had separated the two out, it would have been more obvious that I was trying to convey the fact that you can probably watch the movie without having to have seen the series.

Except in the case of Alien Resurrection. I love that series and I think that was a severe stinker. He probably could have done something cool with it, but from the sounds of things, he got just as fed up with Fox as David Fincher did on Alien3 (whose half-finished "director's cut" in the recent box is so superior to the original I don't think I could ever look at that abortion again) and decided to just blow what was left of the "legacy" to smithereens.
