Susuma Yokota - Symbol
Sunn0)) - White 2

04) what's your favorite new hard-rock/metal album?

Gospel - The Moon is a dead world
Earl Shilton - Two rooms (full of insects)

Song - Kelly Clarkson, "Since You've Been Gone"
Plus, I hear that new Neil Diamond is going to be Aces...

01) what's your favorite new album by female (-led) artist?

Well Fiery Furnaces are kinda 50% female. After that I had to go down to 16 on my list to find Laura Cantrell

02) what's your favorite new hip-hop/rap/urban album?

Edan 'Beauty And The Beat'

03) what's your favorite new "electronica"-related album?

Caribou 'Milk of Human Kindness'

04) what's your favorite hard-rock/metal album?

Ain't got nothing for ya.

05) what's your favorite non-indie, purely-pop album?

Sebastien Tellier 'Politics'. Not exactly 'pure pop' but at the same time it is quite poppy (almost broadway-ish) and it's a firm favourite of mine. Konstantiranks review to follow shortly (I'm a bit behind in reviewing albums at the moment).

probably Thievery overall just cause I'm a fan of the lounge vibe even though I don't have a lot of it (RIYL: Zero 7).

Vitalic's "Poney Part 1" is my fave dance track of the past year or two.

01) what's your favorite new album by female (-led) artist?

Aimee Mann - The Forgotten Arm

. . . but that new Fiona Apple is friggin' awesome.

02) what's your favorite new hip-hop/rap/urban album?

No idea. Can't stand this crap.

03) what's your favorite new "electronica"-related album?

No idea. The only one I can think of buying this year is Four Tet's Everything Ecstatic, and that was a pile of dung.

04) what's your favorite hard-rock/metal album?

Very hard time deciding between:
Opeth - Ghost Reveries
Bruce Dickinson - Tyranny of Souls
King's X - Ogre Tones

05) what's your favorite non-indie, purely-pop album?

I don't even know what this means.

I think you'll be quite pleased with the full-length. I don't recall enjoying the EP (or maybe I'm thinking of someone else?), but this is solid.

Favorite new album by a female-led band would be Kore Ga Mayaku Da by Afrirampo.

You heard it already?! Nice.... I've been eagerly waiting for this. When I saw them on their tour with DFA79, they played 2 new songs (which sounded good) that weren't on the EP.

How is the full-length? This is one of the tracks I enjoyed most on your indie mix.

No I think it's only available as an import. They had it at their show but it was like $15. I can YSI it if you don't have it.

I just listened to this for the first time in a while. It's damn good, and it's really grown on me. I was kinda put off by the vocals, but once I got past that I really started to get into it. Probably year-end list material.

I don't have much to add to this thread except that Busdriver - Fear of a Black Tangent is a good hip-hop album. I've probably only heard a handful of new hip-hop albums this year, though, so I admittedly don't know shit.

I've only heard 2 songs off the Lightning Bolt, but that seems solid as well..
