I don't know anyone (or anyone's mom) who owns one. How do her albums go Platinum x 10? And Mariah, you may be able to hit that piercing dog-whistle note, but that doesn't mean anybody wants to hear it.

np: colors and the kids - cat power

I know two guys at work with a few of her albums, yet they seem to be reasonably intelligent dudes.

Edit: I was driving around with a friend and her dog a few days ago when an old Mariah Carey song came on. When Mariah hit those high notes, the dog made this bizarre and extremely loud whistling sound - it was somewhere between a scream and a howl.

Sony is probably paying people to buy all those records.

You might want to ask those dudes if you can borrow a Bette Midler cd. If they have one, that might just answer my question.

One is openly gay. The other is currently getting a divorce.

Didn't she marry some record producer? Was he with Sony? Even that couldn't explain 10 x PLATINUM! (How many is that!)

Are you a big Tom Waits fan? That's what I gather from your posts. I mean, i'm wondering if you're a big Waits fan. I don't know anyone else who is as infatuated with him as I am, and i'd love to find someone to talk about him with.

I'm going to suggest the people buying her new album realize there's some pretty good dance songs on it

I know that's heresy in these here circles, but Mariah's latest is much better than her last couple of CD's.

As for the high notes, she's in a lower register for most of the new one.

It's not a greatest hits CD. It just happens to be better than the horrible last two releases. Good beats, good production, less of the awful ballads and more dance.

Not something I'd buy, but I can tell the difference between horrible Mariah and not-so-horrible.

her new album has some solid songs.
i like the one with Jadakiss.

and clearly peopld DO want to hear her sing.
she's the real deal, in a world of studio fakers, she can do all the things you hear her do.

And that's quite an endorsement.

Remember kids, gold and platinum records are awarded on number of albums shipped not bought.

It all makes much more sense now, doesn't it?
