Having to use Clemens today is going to kill them... but I hope they beat those cocky Cards.

I still can't believe Bobby Cox has a job... he is an absolute clown in October.

Dude, Mike (Stop Breathin') drove all the way to this game from just north of New Orleans, and now he's going to have to drive all the way home without dry pants. I'm glad he was there to witness history in person, and I'm glad Clemens actually delivered when it mattered.

I missed the end, I fell asleep in the 17th after too many beers during the Bears game. And boy did I need 'em.

If the Angels advance, looks like I'm going to have to root for them. I hate Houston and the Cards (Cards more than anything). And being a Cubs fan, I still haven't decided if my love for the city of Chicago will win out over my hatred of the Sox.

I didn't see the game but I'd be interested in hearing from FT if yesterday's game tops playoff game 6 in '86.

What you say, Bob?

That was amazing. I didn't really favor either team but I've always liked Clemens and thought it was great watching him pitch so well over the last couple innings.

Absolutely amazing experience. Never felt anything like it. The wife and I had decided that if the 'Stros didn't make it a game in the 8th, when they were trailing 6-1, we were going to head on out and beat the traffic for the 6 hr. drive home. Thank you, Farnsworth. Berkman's slam ignited the place. I have no idea what it looked like on TV, but the place was electric. Completely otherworldly electric. When Ausmus capped it with the two-out homer in the ninth, I lost it. I didn't have to drive home with soiled pants, though, cuz I had time to get to the zipper and relieve myself on the two cocky Braves fans sitting directly in front of me who had been talking smack the whole game. Anyway, unbelievable, once in a lifetime thing. My kids will be telling their grandchildren about this when October rolls around each year.

Now, for once, let's handle the Cards.

I'm pulling for Astros now because I hate all the other teams still in the playoffs.

Except Clemons, I hope his arm falls off; but the rest of the team is rootable.

Go 'stros......

P.S. I'm not angry that the Braves lost. I knew that we would lose eventually.

How did a team manage to never get Clemens run support in that little league park?

That's awesome. Last year some friends of mine drove from Indy to Atlanta for a Cards / Braves playoff game. It's nice to know that if you ever want to take in a baseball playoff game, there will always be tickets available in Atlanta. For the first series anyway.

Goddamn winning teams.

I'm pretty ambivalent about the whole thing, but the only club I wouldn't really want to see win it would be the Cardinals.

I've been rooting for the Astros for about a week now, because :

1. I hate the Sox & Yankees.

2. Don't like the Braves. If their fans don't care enough to sell out playoff games, why should I?

3. Wouldn't really mind if the Angels won it all, but since they've won one recently I wanna see someone else win.

4. If the Cards lose it gives their whiney bitch-ass fans something new to moan about.

So that leaves me with the 'Stros. And that epic yesterday sealed the deal.

Why all the Cardinals hate?

I don't really HATE the Cards so much...it's just that as a Royals fan, having to hear their fans whine about the call in Game 6 of the '85 Series STILL after 20 years...oy.

And as a reluctant MO resident, there's a bit of bias due to the state govt. loving St. Louis & not giving 2 shits about KC.

Kansas City is a cooler town. I love the wide avenues. And the barbecue.... And the twenty-years-old girls that go commando to Chiefs games; ass-crown foliage creeping up past the declining waist of a pair of jeans (heaven).

Meanwhile, The Lou has a monstrosity (the Arch) and an erstwhile monstrosity (McGwire)... But, otherwise, nothing much.

I'm right there with ya. Although I wish we lived up to our jazz reputation more.
