Everybody loves to hate on the cable company, but Comcast really does do a pretty good job IMHO. To wit: they have been out to Redlands at least 10 times since I moved in to help me correct various issues and always been pretty cool about it.

Today though, they brought me out some new goodies including a DVR box; to make a long story short, the Optical Audio output on the box didnt work and the guy (who was this really cool hipster Japanese kid--[stereotype]you know with the half blonde hair, probly drives one of them fast and the furious cars[/stereotype]), was like, "well I gotta take your old box and leave you with this [defective] box because I already had it deactivated.

My respnse: "That's fucked up man, that's really fucked up"

I had to apologize to the guy that I wasn't really mad at him(because he thought I was and I definitely wasnt), just frustrated----like its always something y'know?

Reminds of the time that wgite dude delivered our Chinese food..the dude with the purple hair. He has in common with this Jap the same stroke of luck: he's not buried in the backyard.

Last time I saw a Comcast employee was when I went to my friend's uncle's house and his uncle's girlfriend offered to let the guy (who was in his late 40s-early 50s and seemed pretty conservative) smoke a few bowls with them as a "tip". He embarrassedly declined, but I thought he was going to call the cops the second he walked out of the door.

only 5 bucks more a month b/c I was already paying 5 bucks for the HDTV box....

At this point, my Comcast bill can sustain 5-10 bucks and I'll barely notice. Jesus, these bastards have me over a barrel.

But I'll take Cable internets over DSL, and Cable TV over sattelite any day of the week.

Yeah, when I had Comcast, the second yokel they sent out to help with our DVR set us up with an HDTV box as well. We don't have an HDTV-compatible television.

I'm so glad to be done with them.

HD-DVR is ridiculously awesome. Time Warner has glitches every now and then (picture may get out of synch with the audio for a second or two), but on the whole, I really can't imagine not having anything else in the near future. SO AWESOME.

Well, they came back with no less than three(3) techs and a brand new DVR box.

Problem solved. Then these three guys wanted to sit around my house and watch TV, ostensibly to "make sure everything was working right"

I also got massive props from the black guy for having framed pictures of MLK and Jackie O. in my foyer, and props from one of the white guys for the huge framed poster of Richard Nixon (a Christmas gift from the Senator) hanging in my office.

These Comcast guys know style.

Yeah, the black people's trilogy AND the Nixon poster (which is BIZARRO) is too much for many people. You shoulda asked 'em who brought the herb?

Yeah, I refrained from showing them that creepy picture of Jesus being crucified----probably would have soured their day.

JESUS BUBBA! I had forgotten about that picture. So much for sleeping tonight.

Oh nevermind, I'll be drunk.

Mighta been funny to see the Nixon loving white dude and the MLK/JFK loving brother both turn on you. Or at least visibly stiffen when yr. like "I got Nebus up, too" and lead them into the dining room.

I have a vision of you going out the window like Eddie Murphy in Beverly Hills Cop.

Funny, I just did this yesterday. With Comcast, too. Well, I got a DVR box, not yelling at the dude.

But, I demanded to install it myself and stuff, to avoid both the install fee and any of the ridiculous time constraints. Much more enjoyable an experience that way.

I really think I'm gonna love the shit out of having this thing.

i wish my cable box had a dvr - routing everything through my tivo box degrades my hd signal a bit I think.

Only drawback about the Comcast and Time Warner DVR units - no internet scheduling. I mean, these people are ISPs for chrissakes!

lets not put any undo pressure on them here. They do what they do.

Lets face it, the crumbling of our technological bubbles would be catastrophic.

No. I may have to scan and post that picture though. It is pretty funny.

Funniest perhaps in the setting of your kitchen. It's hard to see that one coming.
