Can someone please explain the appeal of The Libertines to me? Is it because they're HEROIN ADDICTS? I'm not trying to start a war or anything but clearly their music sucks.

Well most of the board doesnt actually like them, but i dont mind them. I think the whole heroin schtick, and the NME hype, was pretty boring. I mean it's really just a continuation of Clash/Buzzcocks brit punk updated and repackaged, but damned if I dont enjoy some of their songs - search "Don't Look Back Into The Sun" or "What A Waster".

Yeah, the handful of songs I heard were pretty bad.

In other news: I'm drunk.

I'm listening to "John The Revelator" by DM on repeat whilst drinking increased quantities of Guinness.

s'plates, how can you say this album isn't good?

no, it's because their 2 albums and ep's feature some of the best music created in the past decade.

that's all.

Also, it was 58 years ago today that Chuck Yeager broke the sound barrier flying the experimental Bell X-1 rocket plane over Edwards Air Force Base in California.

What can I tell 'ya? If you don't like them, you don't like 'em. Me, I'm a sucker for anything even remotely Clash sounding. And I like them better than the freakin' Strokes!!!

I agree with Pilates, but the only heroin addict was Pete Doherty who ended up being thrown out of the band.

Now hold on a minute. Though South Pacific is OBVIOUSLY a paint freak and/or lives near a gas leak, let's not get ahead of ourselves.

What a waster RULES, tho.
