much of my young life was spent listening to new jersey's 106.3 fm (r.i.p.), which was the catalyst that put my musical tastes in motion. along the way there were plenty of great songs from bands that i never really heard from again or have remained pretty far under the radar to the point that i don't even know if they exist any more. anybody else remember such things?

see if any of these ring a bell:

screamfeeder - "dart"
summercamp - "drawer"
the refreshments - "banditos"
fear of pop (that ben folds side project) - "in love"
frente's cover of "bizarre love triangle"
kula shaker - "hey dude"
nerf herder - "van halen" (the rest of the album is great, btw)
quicksand - "thorn in my side"
samiam - "she found you"
the shiela divine - "hum"
vast - "touched"

honorable mention:
i thought that lo fidelity all-stars song "battleflag" was pretty cool for a while

I remember these.

Fear of Pop reminds me more of N.E.R.D. than modern-rock, though. But the others are OPENLY DECENT rock, yes.

Wow Battleflag! I forgot about that one! And that shiela divine song was pretty damn good too. And Vast.

i remember all of those except the first and the second to last. Not even sure if this song was the nineties, but I heard a cover of OMC's "How Bizarre" this morning and I kinda freaked out, forgetting how much I LOATHED that song when it was big.

Is this the "I got the pistols, so I get the pesos?" song. If so, I'll bang a triangle to that.

Kaye Hanley.

LTC were awesome. Saw them a lot in Boston. Much more than just "Here And Now".

Close...I think it's Kay Hanley.

She was the singing voice for the stuff in that "Josie & The Pussycats" movie a couple years ago. ( fun fact )

Yeah 106.3 used to be really good. Another big station for me growing up was 103.9 wdre, which was a philly station (r.i.p. as well my friend)

Wasn't DRE only around for like 2 years? I remember being so psyched about it for like a year then one time turning it on to find like Wrex n' Effect or some shit.

It was around for 4 and a half years, and I listened for about 2 years, but those were the best two years of radio I ever heard.

Anyone want to hook up Frente's Bizarre Love Triange? There are all different lengths on Slsk and I don't wanna waste my time. Thanks

That Quicksand album was solid back in the day.

I think this is a good opportunity for me to mention The New Radicals.

And you can't say that I'm just randomly plugging them again because it's in context this time.

I'm surprised I don't know more of those. I used to listen to WHFS all the time (local "alternative" radio station).

I loved (and still do) V.A.S.T.
