Without a doubt the single most anticipated Travels In Constants disc, Explosions In The Sky appropriately treated its conception like an event. At the start of this year, they holed themselves into a house together for two weeks, with a mission to write, record and complete one new song every day. They would not return to any song once that respective day was done, and if they didn't have time to make something worth saving, they would just scrap it all and start over the next day. An approach that notoriously worked wonders for Led Zeppelin, this self-imposed hibernation churned out this glorious self-produced album; eight bottle rockets that shoot towards the sky and drift back to Earth after a few brief moments of dazzling euphoria. At over a half-hour in length, this was obviously well worth the wait.

That album is due out on Oct. 17th I believe on TRR.

Here's a track I like: Day Two

Yea, I got it this past Monday in the mail. It's pretty good - very pretty - but they tried to use different instrumentation, so its not going to be the same EITS ep/album people are used to. It's certainly not bad for me, but I could see where people would be disappointed.

They re-issued their first album How Strange, Innocence a week ago. This ep is part of the Travels in Constants subscription series. Its 8 songs, about 30 mins in total.

Oh...and for those of you who have issues with people downloading music from bands....don't worry about this one...

Our EP for the Travels in Constants series has also just come out. All the mailorder copies are now sold out, but we will have lots of them on tour with us. To learn more about this record please go to temporaryresidence.com. We can only assume that it will be available on various file sharing sites soon, so please feel free to download it. We don't mind.

EITS playing at Bowery in NY the week of Dec 10th. Two shows had already sold out, they JUST added a third (14th, wed night). This will sell out very soon too. I just got 4 tix, should be an awesome concert, I have heard they are awesome live.

Explosions in the Sky live are completely ridiculous. I have never seen a band so into their music. It's almost too much. They just completely freak out from the first second of the first song to the very end. I get pretty emotionally involved with my music, and at times even I was like, Jesus guys, calm down, try to survive the night, ya know...

I dunno, I've seen bands get way more into it than them.

It's kinda funny/wierd how the one guitarist constantly rocks back and forth on his feet the entire time.

If you like Mogwai, I think it would be safe to say you should like EITS.

True. I would recommend either The Earth is Not a Cold Dead Place or Those Who Tell The Truth Shall Die, Those Who Tell The Truth Shall Live Forever as good starting points. I got them both at pretty much the same time, and love both.
