I know I'm a little late, but I'm curious about this show now. I don't watch much tv, but I've heard too many things about this series. Should I just drop the cash and buy the first season without knowing anything about it? Advise.

I'd recommend renting it at the very least.

Definitely, but I would lean towards buying because this show bears repeated viewing. It also seems that very few people who have seen the show actively dislike it.

OK FINE. No, I do agree with you that repeated viewings is good.

Rent the first disc and if you like it, buy the entire DVD set.

I had an Evangeline Lilly-Kate Beckinsale dream the other night. That was a good dream, yeah.

My thoughts exactly. There are so many commercials!

that and they give you like 5 minutes segments between the commercials. fuckers. that's why i record the episodes and ff them.

i slept 4 hours last night because i was catching up on the rest of season 1.

It's not bad for a show that's a cross between Gilligan's Island and Myst

I plan on just buying the entire thing when it's all over.

one of the best shows ever on network TV. X-files feel, but better filming, and hasn't descended into complete ass yet. But it will, give it time.

The commercials drive me nuts as well. Like someone said, the show isn't even on 5 minutes and here comes another commercial. They do that with Desperate Housewives too. I think there are at least 5 or 6 commercials in one hour.

yeah, tivo rules for the commercial thing. just start watching at 8:20 or so, and BAM! zip through all the commercials and you're done at 9.

also, evangeline lilly ("kate") is the hottest thing on tv. talk about obner.

The whole reason I started paying attention to the show in the first place.

And I'm certainly guilty of bitching about new episodes, but I'm sure that's largely due to the fact that I watched the entire first season on DVD in just 3 or 4 sittings. Now I have to deal with waiting a whole week (or 3) between new, commercial-ridden and seemingly slower-moving episodes. I'm having trouble adjusting.

I've just gotten around to watching the first season of 24 on DVD which is also a blast, but I could imagine it would be excruciating to watch on TV with commercials, etc.

24 rules. We rented the first season just before season 2 started, and watched all 24 episodes in one weekend.

as far as commericals go, i don't think Lost has any more than any other show. pretty much any 60 minutes of tv is about 40 (program) - 20 (commercials) that is my tivo experience.

Yeah, I know episodes of Lost and 24 are pretty much the same length.

Episodes of Arrested Development are about 20 minutes long. Same ratio.

I just watch very little TV so my commercial tolerance is low.
