I've already heard them, but I'm just trying to get some music-related talk on here:

Broadcast - Tender Buttons
Dangerdoom - Mouse and the Mask
Fiery Furnaces - Rehearsing My Choir
Sigur Ros - Takk
Why? - Elephant Eyelash

Broadcast - OK, not as good as previous stuff. Sounds really flat, and you can tell it's the work of fewer people.

Dangerdoom - The skits are too much. I hope they got a shitload of money from Time/Warner for recording an hour-long ad for Cartoon Network. Still a pretty good record.

Fiery Furnaces - Never been a fan, but I couldn't make it past 4 or 5 tracks on this one.

Sigur Ros - Also not a big fan. Heard a track or two... zzzzzzzzz

I'd like to hear the Why? album. I don't think I've heard any of his solo stuff.

I kinda hate when people write of Sigur Ros as "sleepy" or describe them with zzzzzz. It is the easy way out.

I think Takk is a wonderful and beautiful album - filled with passion and an unbelievable sense of melody. It might be "zzzzzzzz" in the sense that you can not get up to dance to it... but it is the kind of music that inspires. But I actually think that it is active listening music.

I can easily see how SR are not everyones cup of tea. But there is no way that anythiny on Takk is boring.

Oh, sorry. What I meant to say was that Sigur Ros is sappy and overwrought. It isn't boring because it's slow. It's boring because to me it's bereft of any interesting ideas.

Next time I'll be more clear, and I'll be sure not to take the "easy way out". Detailed essay forthcoming on why Sigur Ros aren't worth my time.

I don't think anyone needs to hear anymore on this topic. You've already used bereft in the proper context, you don't want to exhaust yourself.

Lotta Broadcast naysayers here. I was initially unimpressed by Tender Buttons, but has grown markedly on me to the point that me and it are now falling in love. I detect a simplicity and coherence in it that Drinky names as flat and the rest of you call meh, OK, or gar. The melodies are infectious and it glistens sonically. One of my favourites of the year, but I am surprised by that.

Sigur Ros is too fucking precious. I'll take Jaga Jazzist's "What We Must" over "Takk" any day.

I'm enjoying Danger Doom. I don't think it's one of the best hip hop albums this year but it's pretty fun to listen to.

Haven't given Tender Buttons enough listens, but I really liked the previous Broadcast.

Takk's one of my favorite records of the year. I really don't see why overwrought necessarily has to be a bad thing, given the right delivery.

Takk is better than ( ) because this time he makes up different nonsense lyrics for each song instead of singing the same nonsense through the whole album.

I think some (most?) of these are actually sung in Icelandic.

Still gibberish to me, of course.
