So me and the gf have literally been begging for this to hit over the past week because its been hard to get up with it still being dark out.

Well now its here and I was wide ass awake at 6:30.

I guess I'll appreciate it more tommorrow when I actually have to be up.

Our kid was up at 4:30am instead of the usual 5:30am and I was in bed at 1am thanks to a dinner party last night. Somehow I suppose I got an extra hour of sleep, but I don't feel it.

I went to a Halloween party last night, got very much drunk and completely forgot about changing the clocks (should have done that before drunkenness occured) so I woke up at seven instead of my usual eight for work... still in costume.

We don't change time here so the worst that happens is our tv shows are on at different times. I do have to look forward to dark mornings and dimming afternoons.

We went out for our anniversary last night and my brother and his gf surprised us and called the restaurant to have two bottles of champagne brought to our table, plus the wine (me)and scotch(him) we'd been drinkin.

We never got to turn our clocks back but somehow got 9 hours of sleep, and now I have a kid who stayed at his grandfather's house that managed to get little sleep and is screwed up by the time change.

Can't wait for this day. ohhh yes this will be special. Not.

I thought there was supposed to be something where they put daylight savings time off for a few months? Maybe I can use that as an excuse when I show up late for work tomorrow.

The only good thing about switching back to regular time is when they roll the clocks from 2am back to 1am and you get an extra hour in the bars.

I sleep with an eye mask, so I was still able to sleep in on Sunday. Going to bed at 2:30/1:30 helped, though.

If I have to choose, I'll take my sun in the morning.

I don't understand where the daylight is being saved. It's dark in the morning and dark in the afternoon. Where is this extra daylight we're stock piling?

Ask yourself that in June, when you're stumbling home from the pub and it's still light out.

I said the exact same thing on Sat. afternoon, then I puked all yesterday morning.

Why does Daylight Savings Time exist? Is there a good reason?

I've heard a bunch of different explanations about why it exists, from saving energy to having more time to enjoy the summer. I'm not sure if any of them hold water.

They used all the same arguments when they recently passed that bill to extend day light savings by a month or whatever it is. I don't think that takes effect until 2007 or something though.

I don't like it being dark all the time in winter, but we're back on regular time then, so it's not a fault of day light savings time. And I do enjoy having light until past 9:00 in the summer, so on balance I'm for it even though I don't know that there's much practical purpose to it, outside of providing extra daylight to barbeque by.

I'll get to see what you all are talking about come April 2006.

I think the practical purposes of DST have something to do with farmers being able to work later.
