As you can see, your example has filtered well over these many states in between. Ain't ya proud of me?

Alright, I take it back it's NOT bumfuck. but it is pretty far.

OK all you Chicago Obners don't get your shorts in a knot. read below.
Actually, I DO like Chicago a lot! It's just that I don't have the opportunity to go there as often as I would like. IT'S A GREAT CITY!!! It even has a Chinatown that serves real dim sum.

I'm spoiled because I've lived in cities that have had really good museums. Some big, some small but GOOD ones. AND more importantly, they were easily to get to within an hour or less. Madison and Milwaukee don't have the same type of museums and not as much of an art community.

And I'm not bitter, sour maybe, but not bitter!

there is no way that chicago can ever compare to new york in terms of art establishments. period.

it's my candyland.

Yeah, NYC is the candyland for art.

Have you ever been to the Noguchi museum? Or Storm King Art Center? Fabulous places to go see sculpture! both complete opposites in terms of scale and context.

I've only just started to explore Chicago. I get to go about two to three times a year and enjoy it more and more each time.

You know Ayah, I think they look at art a little differently here in the midwest. It doesn't have the same function as in other parts of the country. Don't get me wrong, there are some very hip cutting edge people. And some of the design that is happening here is great. But the philosphy behind it is different than on either coasts. And that is as it should be. I think every region should have it's own unique flavor. It's not just safer, but more like calculated restraint. Little or none of the emotion of the art and design on the coasts. If I can sum it up, the art here is very much like Garrison Keillor's humor. There is an outside face and an inside face to it that midwesterners can really get into but is lost to everybody else that hasn't lived here. Sublime.

Milwaukee has one museum that's good. The building itself should be in one. The exterior has articulated "ribs" that opens and closes. I'll have to check, but I think it is in time with the sunrise/sunset. Designed by Santiago Calatrava: it is really striking.

Went today. I was a little disappointed thinking that it was gonna be bigger, but it was a very cool exhibit. Some amazing paintings! My favourite exhibit were these linear photon lights that made me feel I was zooming through space at warp speed. If you're in the local area, I definitely recommend that you go.

i checked this exhibit out a few weeks ago, i was hoping it was going to be a bit bigger as well. however, the room with the giant mushrooms hanging from the ceiling was my favorite. also, the room next to it that had the collage of pencil drawings- goodness that was amazing.

also, i couldn't believe they actually had a lsd fountain (of course, it was blocked off). that's insane!

Dude, those pencil drawings were fuckin' amazing and HUUUUUUUUUGE! Christ, I could've sat in front of those walls for hours staring at each and every detail.

I totally wanted to stick my finger under the acid fountain and get a taste. Too bad they were all lookin'. *snapping fingers*
