That's a damn-fine human being. We (I) had some beer, we chatted. I don't think you people realize what an opportunity you have here...

Chgrt - "I really do feel like Rip Van Winkle. I don't know much of anything since 1990."
Capn - "Well, yeah, but at least you have the foundation of the pixies, pavement, soundgarden, faith no more... .... ?"
Chgrt - "I know who they are, but I don't really know what they sound like."

People, this is your chance. He used to be the guy who knew all the newest, greatest music. Then he got married and let it slide. He literally missed the pixies, frank black's solo material, pavement, the breeders, and everything else that was off the Big Radar since 1990. Yes, he'll enjoy the Arcade Fire. Yes, he'll dig Josh Rouse. But I think we need to give him the fundamentals first. I think he needs to know where things came from before he gets too deep into where they went.

He's ready to learn. I told him to ask, gently. When he does so, I suggested maybe people give him their favorite song by whatever artist he's looking at that day. Here Comes Your Man, Dig For Fire, etc. A little YSI, and maybe if he gets set up, some AIM. You have the chance to help a good man regain what's rightfully his... a brimming lexicon of all that makes music worth loving.

He'll ask. Be ready.

Really? Damn, didnt know that. Kickass. Hey BTW I spoke to our old singer (Rory) today and he wants to do some sort of Pavement/GBV thing whereby we all get together and play and then go our seperate ways. It was like noon and he was already drinking sooooo do with that what you will.

Did you pass the most prolific poster since joining torch to him? I'm more than willing to bring Chow up to speed, but I'm more of burn and send kinda guy. Old fashioned like that.

I'll go on a limb and say if you're gonna burn, try to send whole albums? Maybe not. He's got a long way to go, and a short time to get there, as Jerry Reed once said.

Happened to me from '92-'02. Spent the past 3 1/2 years making up for that lost 10.

Oh no! What does this mean? Is Chowgurt sick???

And how about a few details? Where did you meet? And what does getting married have to do with not listening to music???

Oh no! What does this mean?

It's a reference to Chowgurt's job delivering stolen cars cross country while hopped up on amphetamines, all while being turned into a modern-day folk hero by a renegade black disc jockey.
