Somewhat old news. But this will be another anticipated album from me for next year

Quote:
Huge, slobbery wet, geezus-they-might-get-famous congratulations to The National, who have recently signed a deal to release future records on London-based indie Beggars Banquet. The boyz are currently working on a third full-length in the Ditmas Park 'hood. It's tentatively scheduled for spring 2005, though it's uncertain which Beggars label will release final product (4AD, Matador, and XL are in the family). They join a diverse and way rad group of Beggars' artists including Devendra Banhart, The Pixies, Dizzee Rascal, and TV on the Radio. It's been a good time, and we wish 'em the best of luck. L'chaim!

I am familiar with these guys for one awkward reason. My band (that is to say, the band that I am in) was called The National for like 2 weeks. Then we discovered the existence of the band this thread is about. We had already registered a bitchin' domain, too: dieanationaldeath.com

we considered going by The Canadian National for about 20 minutes. Then it was back to the drawing board.

i would think if you called yourself the national, and you were canadian, people might think you just got it from the cbc nightly news show. if you were the canadian national, then i would think even moreso. which might be one of the reasons you dropped it.

I saw them open for the Walkmen back in February, but I was unimpressed. Now the Autumn Rhythm, who played after the National, they were awesome.
