Hey all,
My friend Lee has been wanting to make a film for quite some time, and now he's finally going to do it.
Check this out (from his website):
The legendary filmmaker Werner Herzog once said that if you wanted to become a filmmaker, you should skip film school.
Instead, he said, you should make a journey of 5,000 kilometers alone, on foot.
"While you are walking," said Herzog, "you would learn much more about filmmaking and what it truly involves than you ever would sitting in a classroom. Your experiences would be the very opposite of academic knowledge, for academia is the death of cinema."
Starting next year, I'm going to take Herzog at his word and do it. I will carry a camera, microphone, and essential supplies, and I will walk for months until I reach Kiev.
The footage that I gather during this journey will form the basis of a documentary film to be called More Shoes.
On this site I will keep a journal of my travels, with photos.
He's desperately trying to raise enough money to be able to do this, but no matter how much he has, next february he will be on a plane to Madrid and he will attempt this no matter how little he has.
You can donate $20 to his cause and pitch in to help! Here's the kicker....if you do donate $20 he'll send you a handwritten postcard from somewhere in Europe as he's walking.
