For those who aren't familiar with Jimmy, he is one of the most unbelievably impressive singers out there right now. They've been my favorite band for a few years now, and they certainly don't get as much attention as they deserve; so I'm spreading the word!

While he does get many comparisons to Jeff Buckley, it's merely because they both share such an enormous vocal range. The band has been around since about '92, and had an independent release around that time. But their first major release wasn't until 2000 (Distorted Lullabies), and a second album in 2002 (Precious); both on DreamWorks. They suffered from lack of support from the label, therefore weren't very successful and were eventually released.

That turned out to be a blessing, because the band is now signed with American. Rick Rubin will be producing their third studio album, which is due out in 2005.

Below are links to 6 live songs (save target as...), I arranged in order of which I think you should check out first. They're from archive.org, and I'd love to hear feedback, positive or negative!

1. Dizzy
2. Fallen Souls
3. God Only Wants You
4. Here Is the Light
5. I Heard You Singing
6. Mercy

Where's IdiotJed? He's a HUUUUUUUGE Gnecco fan.

Michael, you should hurry your ass to LA. (I posted this on your intro thread....but I'll rerun it here). Jimmy's been doing solo acoustic shows in a wee coffee house for over a month here in LA. He has one coming up next week, shall we save you a spot? Unfortunately, I've not had the pleasure of going, mainly cuz the shows start at midnight on a weeknight and well...I've gotta go to work the next day, y'know what I mean? Anyway, I did get to see him and the band about a month ago and they were fuckin' brilliant and sooooo incredibly loud (maybe that was due to the fact that I was standing right in front of Jimmy's monitor). New songs sound great -- heavier than what I'm used to listening outta him -- and can't wait for the album to come out.

I'd love to be there, Aural, but I can barely afford to feed myself right now, let alone go on an imprompteau road trip! Once the new album comes out, I'm sure Jimmy will be touring his ass off as he always does. I'm sorry you can't make it!

I always thought that Ours' first album Distored Lullabies was decent, but ultimately the band was mediocre and the only real notable thing was Gnecco.

That I am. Sorry for the late reply.

I have a feeling that this will be his year. The new songs are damn good, he's got a big shot producer working on the next wreckord. Things are looking up.

Here's a link to an acoustic show I recorded last Sept:

Mine again the night before:

Must listen to new songs like "Ran Away To Tell The World" (me fav) and "God Only Wants You". There's also a Queen and Roy Orbison cover. Good shit.
