Boston is getting too expensive. How's Austin?

I'm moving to madison.

I've been kicking around the idea of splitting to Austin for a while now. I love it up there. I'm not sure what I would do up there for a job though. All I know is I am completely bored with Houston.

Oooh, if you boys move to Austin that means we'll have a huge ass Obner gathering in March.

I probably wouldn't move there before March but there's a chance I might be going to SXSW. I just have to get my tax refund.

Chicago is cool too, but too crowded.

It's not crowded over here in the armpit of Chicago (Jefferson Park).

denver is warm. has one of the best indie music stores in the nation (twistandshout). i think its cost of living is slightly above avg. only 2-or-3 obners around denver tho, and we're unorganized. don't know what else you'd be looking for.

I just applied for a job in Austin. I don't think I'll get it but if I do....

Nashville needs cool people. It's fairly cheap too.

austin's like a milder berkeley. great place to live i think

i visited denver last year. it was pretty cool and i went to a few bars that i liked but can't remember the names of. twist & shout was pretty cool too.

as a former bostonian living in new york after 6 years in la, i don't see why la is not on your list.

dude we all know you're way too disgruntled to move to Austin. Just move to Philly and hate everything like me.

What about Baltimore? Or the apt next to me in Hagerstown...we got a minor league team and everything! But seriously, aren't you a mailman or something? Or maybe I'm confusing you with someone else, but isn't Hawaii the holy grail?

los angeles or lower allston? i actually visited la a few times when i was living in vegas and thought it was really boring though maybe my friend just didn't go to the right places. i'd like to go there again sometime.

I did a cost of living calculator thing on CNN.com a couple weeks ago and it said Austin was actually less expensive than Flint, where my rent went DOWN last year to $499/month for 800 sq ft.
When I was there in Oct/Nov it seemed like it was ridiculously cheap to live. The place is still bouncing back from the 2001 tech bust, but I don't know how much longer things are going to be so affordable. Hopefully at least until March, when I'm moving.
