The guy makes himself conspicuous by promoting his favorite unknown bands to anyone who will listen, and badgering those who won't until they do. He's a damn nice guy and a helluva songwriter himself.

He's just a good guy who goes out of his way for musicians he genuinely likes. And, he's a damn good songwriter himself... so why not show the man a little love?

I would give a RIYL, but there's a lot of different styles that he covers.
RIYL -- English pop (not necessarily BritPop, but not necessarily not BritPop, either)
