Its time for me to place an order with my favorite local indie record store, www.stinkweeds.com, so please list your last three purchases here and why you recommend them. I'll probably drop a C note which will buy me about 7 or 8 CDs. Thanks in advance for the input.

Now I know why ILM seems intimidating to you.

well, you already have the Paper AIrplane Pilots...and they probably don't have Kent - Du and Jag Doden...so....

1. The High Dials - War of the Wakening Phantoms
2. Wolf Parade - Apologies to the Queen Mary
3. Heartless Bastards - Stairs and Elevators

Edit: I can't believe the Spadekitty gift pack has worn you out already. Those Graham Cousins and Paper Airplane Pilots discs are nice. But then again, you have a longer shipping time to wait.

I haven't listened to all the Spade Kitty cds. Actually just PAP about three times and Olde Style (getting FUNKY wit it). I really enjoy the Kent songs that you put on a couple of your mixes from a couple of years ago... Are they Swedish???

I'm telling you, that Super/System, Always Never Again is criminally under-rated. Think Remain in Light era Talking heads as sung/shouted by the Beastie Boys.

Also, that Nine Horses, Snow Borne Sorrow is about to be released domestically here in the US.

It's not even a month into 2006. There's nothing new that I've been interested in enough to buy.

Didn't you notice that you can't understand the lyrics in the songs? haha. Yes they are Swedish, but I don't even notice that I can't understand it. I love the voice and the music so much I don't care what he is saying. My wife tells me the lyrics are pretty good though and add a lot of meaning to the songs. Du and Jag Doden is supposed to be dark and about death and questioning life and what it means and stuff.

The Olde Style IS a little funky. I like the less funky tracks on it. Once Tim left the band they seemed to gel more. That's what Matt's new band 3/5ths is. the remaining members of Olde Style is what makes up the new band and hence the name I think. If they got themselves a bonifide singer, they could be a force! Maybe Todd could do some guest vocals. :)

They are coming to Columbus, Ohio in March (i think).
I'm planning on seeing them for the first time.

The last three albums I paid money for:

Putting the Morr Back in Morrissey- 2 CD Morr music compilation first disc is all originals: second disc has vaious Morr artists covering each other for mixed results

Blue Skied an Clear- another 2 CD Morr Music compliation... first disc offers covers of various Slowdive songs for mixed results: second disc features (much better) originals

Boards of Canada- The Campfire Headphase (the focus on melodies and guitars gives the album both a classic and yet streamlined feel, i like the harshness of Geogaddi and the more subtle weirdness of Music.. much better)

Last three pillaged albums:

The Cure- Galore (actually i just put together a lot of Cure songs I like and it just so happens to resemble Galore)

Goldfrapp- Black Cherry

Dntel- Life Is Full of Possibilities (very different from the singles I had complied, more experimental and subdued than I was expecting)
