That songs fucks me so good, kills me, and then fucks me again until I cum back from the dead, a revitilized soul.

May be the best thing Nick Cave has ever recorded.

The album is #1 on my to-buy list.

That album (both discs) is my #1 for the whole year.
Out of the 17 songs across both discs I'd say there are maybe 2 slouchers, and even those are still very good songs. Each album has at least 4 "hits" on it, I couldn't say which is my favorite.

"Get ready for love"
"There she goes my beautiful world"
"Nature Boy"
"Let the Bells Ring"
"Breathless"
"Supernaturally"...all hits.

Not to mention how pretty "Spell" is.

Some of the things about this album(s) that slay me:

In the third couplet/stanza/whatever of "The Lyre of Orpheus", it goes:

Orpheus looked at his instrument
And he gave the wire a pluck
He heard a sound so beautiful
He gasped and said O my God

Now, if you're paying attention, you've already figured out that, otherwise, in the rest of the song, he rhymes the second and fourth lines of every other stanzacoupletwhatever (than this one).

I, personally, not being much of a 'lyrics person', didn't figure it out until repeated listens. And proceeded to laugh my ass off.

Well, not completely. It's still attached. Besides, it's just an expression.

#2 -- "Children" is a great closer. Just a gorgeous song, and the perfect one to go out on. I have absolutely zero criticisms of the ordering of the songs, including the splitting up of it to two disks, despite almost fitting on one.

#3 -- Another favourite track is "Cannibal's Hymn". (No, it's not a Ministry cover -- I don't think it's called exactly that, anyway.) Also "Hiding All Away". Actually, it's pretty much whatever's currently playing.

#4 -- Gorgeous packaging! You guys who don't have a legal copy are missing out. All pastels (pink, beige, blue) without being gay.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

#5 -- Just a great album, but when I was burning it for my car, I couldn't decide which track to drop (so that it would fit on one disk). I ended up going with Nature Boy, but may rethink that as follows: Just drop the shortest song, (I think it's Carry Me) and put that on my B.O.2004 disk. Or, since Q put "There She Goes My Beautiful World" on theirs, maybe just drop that one, and use that one on my B.O.2004 disk. Or sumpin.

It wouldn't be a Nick Cave album without a couple of clunkers, but, what is great, is really, really GREAT.

It will be found somewhere in the middle of my top 20.
