If you have a vote, who does it go to AND why?

My thought is that it goes to Leinart. While these are exactly the best reasons, I think Peterson gets passed up because he's a freshman. Bush doesn't get it because he's a Soph. I think both white and Leinart lose some votes to their respective teammates, but in the end I think that Leinart loses less to Bush. Plus, White already won it. So that may hurt him in the eyes of the voters.

My vote goes to Jason White. He has performed better this year than last year when he did win the Heisman. Of course, people will say that Adrian Peterson's rushing assisted with the passing game (which is definitely true), but White has just been near perfect all year long.

I still think Alex Smith will be the better pro QB though, and that Reggie Bush will be the best overall pro player of this group.

I'd like to see Peterson get it. He makes shit happen, and has had an outstanding year.

But would YOU vote for Leinart?

I'd vote AP or the kid from Utah. Leinart and Smith are the same dude on the same team...granted they are awesome, but Smith means more to his team, and is doing it w/o a top 5 Heisman candidate running back.

the only people who should come close to sniffing the damn thing are Peterson and White. Peterson should get it b/c anyone with sense realizes that his achievements as well as game-breaking ability put him ahead of anyone else. But b/c there's not a lot of justice in the world, he'll be passed over for White. But it's not all bad from where I sit.

Jan. 4 will be FUN!

Ya I realized after I voted and posted that your question was "who should". Anyway, if I were casting my ballot I would vote for Peterson. Everything I have seen of that kid has been amazing.

Yes.... back-to-back outstanding seasons, leading a top offense behind a ragtag line with new wideouts...Plus, the fact that he's QBing the soon-to-be-repeating national champs is a bit of a bonus as well...

who cares who wins the heisman. I don't know how they can pick 1 person out of the thousands who play collegiate ball.

I understand even less how they pick high school stars.

Heisman voters get to vote their top 3 and the votes are tabulated accordingly. Irregardless of what you may hear, the Heisman is either:

1. A statistical anamoly (Andre Ware)
2. A career award (Ron Dayne)
3. The leader/best player on the best team (Gino Toretta)
4. The flat out best player in college football (Herscel, Bo, etc.)

I happen to think its the player who made his team better which can quite honestly, from year to year, be any one of the above. That being said my top 3 would be:

1. Alex Smith
2. Adrian Peterson
3. Matt Leinart
