Any word on a new Nick Cave record?
The last one was my #1 of '04, and remains my #1 of the millennium.

So... anyone hear anything?

Quote:
NEW DVD RELEASE
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds release a brand new DVD on 23rd January 2006. The DVD features the legendary tour film THE ROAD TO GOD KNOWS WHERE and LIVE AT THE PARADISO, both available together here for the first time on DVD. Described by the NME on its original VHS release as “the definitive documentary of the music business in its glorious, monotonous reality”, The Road To God Knows Where by Uli M. Schueppel is an intimate and revealing insight into a band on the road. Filming during their US tour in Feb / March 1989, we see life on the road as it truly was. On the road – at the hotel – sound check – backstage – the concert – backstage – back at the hotel – hitting the road again… Featuring a Bad Seeds line up of Nick Cave, Mick Harvey, Blixa Bargeld, Thomas Wydler, Kid Congo Powers and Roland Wolf, the film also introduces us to a cast of extras from the band’s crew and the band’s guests (including Anita Lane, Lydia Lunch and Lung Leg).

Live At The Paradiso was recorded in Amsterdam in June 1992 and features classic Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds songs such as The Mercy Seat, The Ship Song, Tupelo and Deanna performed by a line up of Nick Cave, Mick Harvey, Blixa Bargeld, Conway Savage, Thomas Wydler and Martyn P Casey. The concert film was edited by long-time collaborator John Hillcoat whose credits include The Proposition (scripted by Nick Cave and due for UK release in March 06), To Have And To Hold and Ghosts of The Civil Dead plus many Bad Seeds promo videos). The Director of Photography was John Mathieson who went on to work on Gladiator and the forthcoming Brian Jones biopic, Stoned.

i just got it for valentines day.
its worth buying.
have you bought any older nick cave albums?

I'm with you on the high ranking of that last one. It's pretty much perfect.

What I want to know is when he's going to frickin' TOUR.

The oldest I have is Murder Ballads.
I know.
I need more.
Next on the list are:
From Her To Eternity
and
The Good Son.

Damn I love that man.
I now understand why Bongwater wrote a song about him.

I saw him live about 8 (?) years ago when he was touring for his "Best of" album. Although I barely knew his music at the time I still thought it was one of the top 3 best shows I've ever seen. Still feel the same way.

I'd say that last record was even a pretty significant influence on my songwriting.

Not to mention the B-sides collection was just released, which usually signifies a buffer between albums to hold over fans. I put it in this perspective--Ellis just put out an album with Dirty 3, Cave just did a film, I would imagine that tied the both of them up pretty extensively. Probably late 2006 or early 2007 for the next Bad Seeds record. But that again is just my educated guessing.

Movie does have a soundtrack featuring Nick Cave does it not? I believe that either just came out or is scheduled to come out this month.

i have everything he has ever done whether it be with birthday party or die haut or boys next door or completely solo or with the bad seeds, as well as other various guest appearances and side-projects. You could call it an obsession, i guess. But if you want anything by way of YSI, shoot me a pm. (except for the good son, firstborn and henry's dream, because i only have them on vinyl).

i'll take stuff besides the birthday party/bad seeds if you're willing.
i have all of the studio birthday party albums, i need the live birthday party and peel sessions and i'll be happy. i have 9 nick cave albums i believe.
i haven't counted lately
that's not counting my dvds though.
i love nick cave. i'm not as obsessive as you are, but... i have other things to obsess over, like tom waits.
