This is an interesting historical artifact for any Marc Bolan completists out there:

Andy Ellison - Cornflake Zoo
Quote:
Andy Ellison’s credentials within the rock music world are well catalogued. Andy was a founder member of British psychedelic rock band John’s Children between 1966 and 1968. The band were also famous for including in their ranks a young Marc Bolan who was also responsible for writing some of the bands material including "Hippy Gumbo" and the legendary "Desdemona". The band also famously recorded an album with the rather risqué for the time title of Orgasm. This album was basically a studio affair which was given a live sound by overdubbing audience screams allegedly from a Beatles performance. Unfortunately the album was shelved at the time and wasn’t released until the mid eighties.

Following the split of Johns Children in late 1968 Andy Ellison was also involved in a number of bands including the lesser well known Jook, and the glam super group Jet, who managed one album and a tour supporting Ian Hunter on his first post Mott The Hoople tour.

Andy Ellison was next sighted leading The Radio Stars who managed a few minor hit singles and two albums the first of which was the excellent Songs For Swinging Lovers.

Since that time Andy Ellison has worked consistently and occasionally performs with former Radio Stars/Sparks bassist Martin Gordon performing songs from the John’s Children, Jet and Radio Stars back catalogues. To this end he has released a live album and more recently has overseen the release of a John’s Children compilation.

Cornflake Zoo is a compilation album featuring a varied array of tracks dating from 1968 through to the most recent recording on the album from 2005. One of the stand out tracks featured here is an orchestrated version of the Beatles song "You Can’t Do That" which was recorded in 1968 shortly after John’s Children broke up. More interesting still, the title track "Cornflake Zoo" comes from a session Andy recorded with Simon Napier Bell and Marc Bolan. This track is a missing diamond as the single which was originally planned for release on Simon Napier Bell’s record label (SNB) never came out and it was thought that only a few acetates survived. Another Bolan/Ellison song "Casbah Candy" also features on this album.

Bringing the album bang up to date is the track "Anyway Goodbye" which was recorded in 2005 for a projected studio album that will possibly see release in 2006.

The tracks on this album have all been re mastered for release and the sleeve notes are written by Andy Ellison.
