yeah yeah, it's only Feb, but man, i can't stop listening to this friggin' album. Mogwai seriously brought it.

if you've heard it, what's your favorite track so far?

i'm goin' with the machine-like drone of "Acid Food". love the melody. it's like, spiraling and shit. so good. as is the album.

Really? I heard such mediocre things about it.

NP: Destroyer "Your Blues" soundtracking men's free skate. Choke, motherfuckers.

I've heard Folk Death 95, and it kicks. So I figure that if it's no Young Team, it's going to be at least as good as EP+2, IMO

I read the subject of this email far too many times before I realized it didn't read "Mr. Breast..."

Carry on.

I'd read several reviews that suggested it was mediocre and disappointing. I've listened twice and it seems so beautiful and powerful for me. It is my favorite so far this year at least after two listenings.

They will be at the Fillmore in May. Last time I saw them there live my back was totally screwed up and the music's loud roar and deep bass vibrations on my spinal column healed it. It's like a faith-healing session to see Mogwai.

I'd like to hear this, but am afraid to buy it based on past Mogwai disappointments.

(hint hint)

Does this band get any kind of groove going, or is this art/prog rock?

What's it called? Friend of the Night. Definitely my favorite track so far. I finally picked up the album last night. I haven't stopped listening to it. I have been disappointed in some of their releases in the past too, so I am always hesitant to pick up a new release. However, this one is great so far. Maybe because my expectations weren't super high. Unlike Neko Case's album which is getting a "meh" with a couple exceptions so far.

Granted I really don't know what you mean by "groove". But, I also don't know if Mogwai is art/prog rock. I just know that I like them. Sometimes they are reminiscent of some post rock to me, mostly because they have moments where they sound like Mono, in my opinion. I am most likely of no help to you. If you want, let me know and I will send you a YSI.

I'll check them out at iTunes or something (when I get home). Thanks!
