I just thought it was some well-preserved (but very haunting) 105 y.o. lady.

Haha. Sorry. I didn't recognize her, and couldn't tell if she was doing something in the picture (the chair doens't have a seat!) or if there was some sort of description missing.

Honestly, those are some nice gams for someone who voted for Coolidge.

a) old?

i really do apologize for either of those.
i probably should have said older gay gents.
really, i'm sorry.
i never used "fag" much at all but i've spent a lot of time around someone who uses this term a lot and have picked it up as of late. it's bad. i can change.

Change without knowing the purpose, nor wanting the nature of the change, is purposeless and therefore meaningless.

As Habermas and Foucault (who had an interesting relationship to fists and surely would know who S.M. was) would say.... the struggle for liberation is in communication, words, not the means of production. Faggot is kinda detestable... a skirmish along the linguistic front lost.

and once when a woman in my workplace found out I lived in sin with a man... she actually said "Oh, I love old movies." Truth is I know a lot about old movies.... and also intercollegiate football, 17th Cent metaphysical poetry, critical theory and post-marxism, language acquisition theory, and I clean the house really well.... y que?

Anyway...this is not for your benefit, whom I trust and know that main intent of anyone posting is to be glib and caustic in the spirit of shared humor... ain't no big deal.

And while humor is the certain sign of balance and spiritual health, and all this shit can get too heavy... the battles arise where they do, or in a better metaphorical frame, I am not going to walk the linguistic man at the side of the road... I need to be the good post-structuralist Samaritan.

Ahem... selah.

In olden times Chuck D recommended Foucault's Discipline and Punish in a chat about the death penalty. Interesting but grim.

Language matters, but in any terms Shirl is looking very fine. And I say this as someone determined to be a crone/hag at 55.

WTF is '17th Cent metaphysical poetry'?!?!? I mean, I know what 17th century poetry is, and I know what metaphysical means, but...is there really a whole genre around this? Or are you talking about, like, 3 poems?

Well,,, you mean people actually read this shit? I'll have to actually think before posting, jeez.

John Donne, of course. And Carew, Herbert, Marvel, Traherne, Vaughn... others.

I did half a phud at UCLA in english... comparing 17th century metaphysics to 20th century british poetry. Thanks for asking.
