Did anyone else here buy a ticket? I was freaking amazed someone here in Lincoln, NE won it. I don't buy my tickets at the convenience store where the winning ticket was sold. It isn't close to my house and too close to the big homeless shelter where most of the homicides occur. I was somewhat relieved that someone finally one, since I was getting tired of forking out five bucks for a worthless, yet somewhat irresistable chance at wealth.
The rumor is that some people at a Cook's Foods owned by ConAgra won it together, so I'll be happy if it is someone more blue collar than myself.

How much was the jackpot?

I've been buying Mega Millons tickets for the last month or so. I think it was up to $145 million on friday and no one won.

365 Million, it was a record jackpot, but they only actually won 144 million or something like that.

As an annuity? Because Powerball only gives you about half of the advertised jackpot if you take the lump sum.

And for you kids out there, always take the lump sum, even if it is half the advertised jackpot.

No, I think this lump sum after taxes. I got the figure from the Lincoln Journal Star, which is not the greatest paper to rely on.

I'd trust myself, while spending lots. It's that time value of money thing. Dollar is worth more today than tomorrow. That annuity payment you get in 20 years just ain't worth as much. If I blow it today, I can get much more incredible shit.

Even if you just put like a million in the bank, that's like 30 grand a year on 3% interest. I could live off that.

Toss 10 mil in that bank and make a decent living. I couldn't stay in beer and cigs on 30K.
