I welcome you to invent your own criteria but I'd imagine consistency, quality of records, quality of live shows, longevity, etc. might play in.

Note: There is no "Other". If you disagree with my choices, start your own poll/thread. That is all

Yo La Tengo.
Los Lobos.

Both better than any band on that list.

New thread forthcoming.
Do you really want one?

EDIT: But, of these choices, I'll go with Kings Of Leon.

I voted Strokes, but could easily be swayed by a Truckers or Ike Reilly argument.

btw, yail, I have your "Fight Songs" and "Timeless" apparently, was wondering of you have an extra DECORATION DAY?! (New bookshelf set up looks AWESOME, and the speakers to my shelf stereo were in that big box. NExt time you come back to the Gum, the place will be in much better shape ;) )

Of those, I'd probably go with Modest Mouse or DBTs.

But where's Ted Leo/Pharmacists, The Shins, Built To Spill, and Fugazi?

It was a toss-up between MMJ and the Wilcos. I went w/ MMJ 'cause they're so damn consistent.

The Shins= uh, no. though they will change your life apparently
BTS= Not really relevant right now (though I hope they become that again)
Fugazi= Same

Reasons why this poll must be a joke:

Drive-By Truckers
Kings of Leon
Marah
The Ike Reilly Assasination
Modest Mouse
Interpol

I love all the bands listed, but Kings of Leon are probably my favourite band of this decade, so they get my vote. Strokes probably a close second.

Ike.

All the grit and guts of good rock and roll, plus he appears to be a fan of hip hop.

I really don't like Kings of Leon, and MMJ bores me. I like Wilco less each day. Modest Mouse & Interpol? Blah. I'm warming up to The Strokes, and the last Spoon album wasn't any great shakes.

Agree on BTS, but all Fugazi has to do is put out another album on par with The Argument to be more than relevant. As it is, their last album is one of their best, but it's kinda questionable whether or not they're still really active.

I'm not voting because I can't commit. From the choices, its a toss up between Wilco, MMJ and Spoon. Wilco put out by far the best album of any band listed (Being There) but I really don't care for the direction they are headed. MMJ is by far the best live band listed and "At Dawn" is great. And Spoon I just have a feeling that I'm more likely to like future work from than any of the above.

Really though I'd probably need to go outside the options and pick either Sonic Youth or The New Year.

Sonic Youth for having the best and deepest catalog of any US band still relevant.

The New Year because they are both great and they are the only currently active band that I don't think has ever disappointed me in anyway albeit with less chances to.
