 Post subject: for all you open source/recording folks...ever use audacity?

Have done it for voice recordings, and it was fine. Pretty straightforward interface for what I needed. I'm sure there's a lot more that can be done with it.

I use it practically every day for home recording and the like.

It's not very robust, editing is a real pain, and the "mixing" capabilities it presents are a joke - but - if all's you need is a fire-and-forget recording set-up, it's positively the most convenient and cheapest application available.

yeah, for voice stuff it works fairly well, although i usually use adobe audition instead. if you can afford it (350 american), its tops.

thanks, y'all. ive actually got an older version of cool edit [before adobe bought it] from my friend, i just wanted to take a look at this program b/c ive heard some good things about it, preliminarily.
anyone ever have a problem with latency? it's the 1st thing we noticed last night, but i think we fixed most of the issue by taking it down as far as the program would allow.

i was using it for awhile, but the thing is whenever I'd be putting a few diff. tracks it would change up the speed of them. It pissed me off so bad I gave up and havn't tried doing a podcast again.
