Does anyone know of a good, idiot-proof RSS feed programs that are free and easy to download?

I'm probably looking for both Mac (work) and PC (home)

and any other kind of info you could give a newbie who is interested in further feeding in the full flavor of the planetary interweb would be nice.

I haven't played with a lot of them - I use Thunderbird, which is fine, but probably not ideal. This about.com article looks instructive.

Thunderbird works pretty well for me but I honestly haven't tried much else.

Seconded. Also, you can use it whereever you have internet access, since there's no actual program. It's all web based.
