1. Before Sunset
2. Sideways (Just thought this movie was funny and insightful)
3. Closer
4. The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou
5. Super Size Me (Made me stop eating fast food for 2 months)
6. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (Darkest and best of the series)
7. Kill Bill Volume 2 (A good sequel that was not actually a sequel)
8. Shaun of the Dead
9. Garden State (I know i will probably be hated on for this one)
10. Napolean Dynamite (Funniest movie of the year)

This list could be ammended as I have yet to see The Aviator, Osama, Maria Full of Grace, and several other quality movies.

i was watching Garden state this morning, actually. it's not so bad save for portman's character. i think that the incredibles is the best hollywood movie that i saw this year. shaun of the dead might be my favorite overall.

Ok I don't think I've even seen 10 movies released in '04... but I enjoyed:

-Napeleon Dynamite
-The Incredibles
-Kill Bill V. 2

And I really want to see:
Closer, Life Aquatic

Such a lousy pay off especially with the return to form that was Vol. 1

Sadly, I think I've only been to the theatre 7 times this year:
Troy -- TERRIBLE. Possibly the worst movie I've seen
Bourne Supremacy -- Good for what it is. An action trifle, can't complain.
Kill Bill -- See above
Motorcycle Diaries -- Fucking great
Garden State -- Even though at times it lapses into quirkiness for the sake of being quirky, I thoroughly enjoyed this movie
Fahrenheit 9/11 -- Peel away the hype and you have a movie essentially chronicleing a fat man's hatred of the President, and taking advantage of the grieving
Eternal Sunshine -- Probably number three on this list, which is sad, because I think this one is almost wholly quirk for quirk's sake...but I guess it's gotta be hard to do another "you don't know what you got til its gone" story without resorting to gimmickry.

WHERE'S THE MOVIES WITH AL-QAEDA and TITTIES?!!?

Loog you should see Outfoxed and Bush's Brain. Although they will probably tell you two things you already know.

1. FoxNews is the worst thing to happen to media.....ever!
2. Karl Rove is Satan

people are killing themselves to fawn over Million Dollar Baby, aren't they? the plot doesn't look all that compelling but you'd be hard pressed to find a reviewer who doesn't think that it's a contender for the best pic of the year.

i'm still not sure if i liked badasss or not. i think that the script was a bit too congratulatory.

I saw Bush's Brain at SXSW..forgot that one.

You know what that was to me? A bunch of fucking crybabies who couldn't figure out how to beat this guy at his own game, so they made a movie about how evil he is. Yeah, he may be evil, but if anyone on the Dem side half of his cunning, we wouldn't be in this predicament. The audience gave it a standing O, I just muttered to myself about needing to drink more.

I want to see Outfoxed, for sure

1. Before Sunset

Anything else I saw this year was pure shiite compared to it. I'd put Sideways #2, Got 4-5 movies to see before the year ends.

Call me a sensitive boy, but I just saw this last week and really liked it. Definitely a top 5 of 2004 for me.

edit: Of course it could've used a bit more al qaeda.

Loog,

I have no problems with running a cutthroat game from the left and I am sure you feel the same.

This was definitely the year for political/social docs. I thought the worst was Supersize Me because it was utterly pointless. My favorite one was probably Control Room.

I can't remember a lot of what I saw this year and what came out this year or last (was Fog of War this year? I loved it anyway), but here's a quick try:

1. Before Sunset
2. Sideways
3. The Incredibles
4. Eternal Sunshine
5. Hero
6. Garden State
7. Control Room
8. Harry Potter 3

..and that's all I can think of that's worth mentioning

I guess I should have said that I found it an interesting look into the mind of the evil genius...and that it royally pissed me off. Pissed me off not that he is that good, but that instead of trying to find solutions, it mainly seemed to be incessant whining...and that the Kerry campaign played right into his evil hands.

I'm fully clothed, though I haven't left the grounds of Redlands since Monday night....Nice Avatar BTW.

Napoleon Dynamite- By far THE funniest movie of the year. I saw it 5 times, but that's just because I have nothing better to do and every time I recommended it to someone I felt the need to go with them and laugh before all the funny parts and ruin it for them.

Garden State- Really enjoyed this. I love Zach Braff. I think he's very talented both in front and now behind the camera. Plus after the hunk of shit I've seen the last few years this is high above it.

The Incredibles- Liked it just cause it wasn't what I expected. It was more geared toward grown-ups I thought.

The Bourne Supremacy- If Matt Damon can convince me that he can kick some ass, then he's doing soemthing right.

The Corporation- Even though it was long as shit for a documentary, I really liked this, or didn't like it cause it pissed me the fuck off so much. But I guess that's the point.

Motorcycle Diaries- This might be my number 2. For number of reasons. All of wich have been mentioned here before.

Farenheit 9/11- I think anything that could help in getting me to vote for the first time is a good thing.

Eternal Sunshine- As long a Carey keeps attaching himself to cool movies like this, I'll keep seeing them.

Sideways- Fucking Awesome!! Funny as shit. My number 1 or 2 hands down. I was so suprised by this move, in a very good way.

Time that I wish I could get back, but thanks to my poor judgement I can't:

Alexander
Bridget Jones 2
I Heart Huckabees
Hero- liked the cinematography, but god damn it was fucking boring!

Yes, especially if you enjoy Pixar films.

Oh! I forgot to include Hero on my list.

I only saw two movies at the cinema this year.

Motorcycle Diaries - Brilliant, one of my all time favourite movies
Shawn of the Dead - slightly disappointed in it at the time, but I'll pick up the DVD with christmas money and watch it again. After all it's got Simon Pegg in it, so it it must be at least reasonably good.
