I had to post this for Radiohead fans and non-fans alike. The fucking title just made me laugh hysterically. That band headed by that lazy-eyed weirdo just doesn't seem that scary to me, but we have had better brace ourselves for a startle, just in case.

Radiohead Set To Scare Fans On "Terrifying" New Album
Tuesday April 04, 2006 @ 06:30 PM
By: ChartAttack.com Staff

More information about the next Radiohead album continues to slowly leak out from frontman Thom Yorke.

Yorke quashed rumours that the record would have major political themes in a recent interview with NME.com. "It's about that anonymous fear thing, sitting in traffic, thinking, 'I'm sure I'm supposed to be doing something else,'" he said.

"Interestingly enough, it's similar to OK Computer in a way. It's much more terrifying. But OK Computer was terrifying, too — some of the lyrics were."

Up to 16 songs are being considered for inclusion on the follow-up to 2003's Hail To The Thief, including "Nude," "15 Step," "Arpeggi" and "House Of Cards," which Yorke performed solo at the Trade Justice Movement rally in London, England last April.

Blogging, as he so often does in his free-form style, on the Radiohead website, Yorke told fans that the new album is coming along well and the band are quickly readying themselves for a European tour beginning in May. "listening back to things we are doing and looking through the lyrics today and stuff it feels like we are finally getting somewhere," Yorke wrote.

"there are lots of songs. too many to get together straight away. so we will be furiously rehearsing and writing as we go.

"i think we've always worked best when we arent bothered about making mistakes. theres a lot of baggage about the old way of doing things that is hard to get over... all the 'album' crap… just this level of pressure that is ridiculous… we're just going to do what feels right at the time. quite into the idea of singles at the moment (that dont get on the radio).

"no grand design... wherever we are at. some of the random stuff we have at the moment could be the most exciting… trying to figure out how on earth we will be able to play some of it. anyway it is not important. there is more to life than freaking out about petty bullshit like this. there are more important things to think about."

I used that exact word to describe certain parts of Radiohead yesterday when I was writing a review of Puma's mix. Which I still haven't finished.

there is nothing wrong with lazy eyed weirdos.

I think I'm amazed more than anything that none of them have started their own labels, or at least imprints. have they?

Terrifying? I enjoy quite a lot of Radiohead, but I can't say it elicits that particular emotion.

If this turns out to be similar to OK Computer as Thom says I am going to be one happy man.

from the sounds of arpeggi, it sounds more along the lines of kid a. i think they're referring to the lyrics are more "terrifying" than okc. have you read the DEAD AIR SPACE radiohead blog? holy hell it sounds like thom's losing it.

but i don't want another 'similar' album by radiohead, i want something diffferent. one reason why i love this band so damn much is because of their ability to innovate and re-create their sound without losing their vision on what they're trying to do.

bingo. that's why i'll always rank kid a ahead of okc because in the context of okc it's just a different sound, such a shock, and it succeeds so damn well.

"terrifying" radoihead works for me. i'm thinking along the lines of pulk/pull revolving doors which, strangely enough is one of my favorite radiohead songs.

Awww...me too...heh. Not only him, but another lazy eye weirdo that lives in London but not famous, heh.

Give a man an accent and a lazy eye and whooaaa...I love him. Is that like a guy saying he's a "breast man" or "ass man"? I mean, am I a "pasty weird British blokes with lazy eye girl"?

really? never heard anyone say that was their favorite... mine is idioteque & planet telex... but lately i've been re-visiting climbing up the walls due to the zero 7 remix i put on my trip-hop mix.

i'm getting really fucking anxious for a US tour & new album. rara!

i didn't say it was my favorite, i said it was among them.

my favorites are:

backdrifts
life in a glass house
the natonal anthem
subterranean homesick alien
motion picture soundtrack

that's the definitive top 5, and then the next rank includes 'let down' and probably 'pulk/pull revolving doors'

Also, Thom Yorke/Radiohead would have to have more pressure on him to 'deliver' than any other songwriter/band on the planet right now. I imagine he'd be pretty scared.

If Radiohead wasn't famous, neither Thom Yorke or Tom (dude i know) would get any.

I probably should have said more. If it's themed like OKC I'm going to love it. I don't expect it to sound like OKC and if it did I'd probably be disappointed that they didn't "reinvent" their sound again. Not trying to live in the past but when I read York's comment that he wants it to relate to the feeling of sitting in traffic and thinking "I should be doing something else" I got really excited.

Agreed. Radiohead could pull this off really well. So is this still probably gonna be a 2006 release? I need me some new Radiohead!!!!!

Does a good pic of him even exist? We could always post a pic of timmyjoe42, to show what Yorke would look like had he ever used a toothbrush.
