Of course we all have our own favorites, but these are my picks for some of the best music from a particular period in British music history. These are the songs that matter to me most. Download, and enjoy.

I'd love to see what others would pick for their favorites as well.

Really like that Chapterhouse...you don't hear about them very often.

I'd add "Don't Slow Down" from this unappreciated album by The Hollow Men from Manchester:

Props to anyone who's heard/remembers this.

I haven't heard much on this list but I'll check it out.

Unlike most critics, I'm a huge fan of Catherine Wheel's "Wishville" more than their other stuff.

Thanks Dalen

I was way too young for this the first time round and have been meaning to hear a lot of these bands for a while. This'll be a nice little primer

Agreed, Adorable are just fantastic.

I was going back and forth between a few Oasis tunes actually. My other picks were Acquiesce, Cloudburst, Round Are Way.

"Back For Good" could have fit in nicely actually.

Excellent mix, D.
This looks like a lot of the music I was listening to arounds that time, with quite a few things that I never heard. I would probably love this!

Rather tragically Take That are reforming, without a certain Robbie Williams.

Oh, and what would I add to this?
Maybe...
Paul Weller - "The Weaver"
Stereolab - "Ping Pong"
Cornershop - "Wog"

But you covered most of it, methinks.

EDIT:
Oh yeah! And how about some Wonder Stuff? Maybe "Size Of a Cow".

There's some very good songs here, but I gravitate more to the Half Man Half Biscuit oddities of the time. I love groups like Lush, but listen to ones like The Wedding Present and James just as much.
